Another Sculpture and Goose Poop

I am on the fence about this sculpture…not sure if I like it or not.

Eagle spirit

The base is kinda creepy.

Eagle spirit two

Eagle Spirit three

It is called “Eagle Spirit.”  The sculptor was a gal from Longville Minnesota.

See those Canada Geese in the background?

The geese have claimed this park as their own. They are raising lots of little poop machines baby geese.IMG_0582

You have to watch where you step…I am certain I looked like a drunken sailer as I went from sculpture to sculpture dodging goose poop.  IF I were going to create a sculpture for this park I would make something with a fountain so people could wash their shoes… perhaps this park should be called Goose Poop Park.

  1. I like the creepy base, but then I am different, I just like its 'rooted' feeling. As for the geese? I dislike them a lot! I did raise geese ONE year and never had them on our farm again. Too much poo.

  2. I'm with you on the sculpture. It looks a bit vulture-like in the photos.

  3. I like the sculpture, but I can see why someone might not be thrilled with it. We have those same geese around the park we walked through yesterday, same thing: lots of poop to have to dodge. :-)

  4. My Mom raised geese: they made more noise than the dog when someone came into the yard. I learned to give them a wide berth.

The angle of the eagle's wings bother me more than the creepy base. I can't quite put my finger on why it's unnerving.

  5. You're funny... goose poop park :0)
The only thing I don't like about that sculpture is that the roots look like snakes.

  6. The sculpture has a menacing feeling about it, and yet the eagle is majestic. Somehow, my first thought was "Edgar Allen Poe".
Goose poop is a plague in our parks near water too.

  7. A small area to wash shoes would be a GOOD thing!

  8. Love the eagle, but the base makes it feel ungrounded. Looks like some kind of octopus to me. Of course the bird doesn't seemed settled on that spot, either--LOL!

You know how I felt about cleaning the goose poop off my patio every day. AWK!! Whenever I see geese walking down the sidewalk here I chase them off if they give even one longing look at the water dish or seed on my patio. I have quite enough poop due to all the smaller birds here every day. But smaller bird poop dries up quickly...and is SMALL--LOL! ;)

  9. I like the sculpture! Where my husband works, their campus is full of geese and there is poop everywhere. He doesn't like all the poo either.

  10. Well, since geese are all over , think there would be many goose poop parks.

  11. We played a golf course last summer that had been claimed by the geese, and several areas were nearly in-playable because of the goose poop.

  12. Lots of goose poop in the park where I walk. City workers come along the asphalt paths with shovels and clear that off but the grass is still all fouled by poop.

  13. Can't wait to read about the name change for the park in the PR Enterprise. Just read that the county fair opens Wednesday. That made me feel like the summer was flying by.

  14. A older woman, friend who moved over here with us, has a beautiful view of a pond in here courtyard. All summer she can’t walk the sidewalk because the Iowan Canadian Geese live there too until the pond freezes. I still am amazed that I see the white headed birds, but I do fell less happy about them as they scoop up small animals. We do have a lot of fish around here on rivers.

  15. I'm voting no on the base. More dirt and rocks, less "snakes" :-o.

  16. The eagle is nice but goose poop not so much.
