Back on Track

Busy days…I am unpacked and have the train cards on my desk, if I have some free time I can color a bit in the evenings.  I will eventually get them all done.

Planning to make some homemade noodles and cook up some chicken today.   They make a great freezer meal.  We will defrost our small deep freeze today.  We have lots of coolers and frozen freezer bags standing by.  IF I am going to spend my time cooking and freezing meals then I need a clean freezer.

Far Guy’s Fitbit went on the blink…sometimes his computer didn’t want to sinc it…so he bought a ZIP to put in his pocket…hope I don’t wash it.  Last night I had just come in from mulching leaves and he was having a crisis cause he couldn’t get it to work…following their set up directions…of course not…he had to go into his account settings and add a new device.  Sometimes simple things get to be not simple at all.

The leaves are about a third down, and we have mulched the entire yard three times.  The forecast is for rain so that is why I was out until dark, the leaves are easy to mulch when they are dry…not so much when they are wet.

The talk around here, especially the old timers is that this will be an old fashioned winter with lots of snow…perhaps that is why my pantry is filling up and my freezer is calling me to make soups, noodles and chili so we always have a meal on hand.

Leaves are a falling around here also. Unfortunately we are still have very high humidity levels (in the 90's) overnight so the grass and leaves remain wet most of the day. Also we keep having rain every other day. Sure makes it hard to mow/mulch the lawn and leaves. Hoping the old timers are rong about the snow this winter.

I'm glad to read that I am not the only one filling the pantry! I hope the old-timers are wrong, but if they're right, you'll be ready.

I had a Fitbit but it broke and I never got it fixed. It's a good thing FG has you around to help him out with these things. I never heard of a ZIP before. :-)

Yes, the rain is headed your way: two days of rain here made leaves soggy. Snow is falling in the mountains and getting closer. I'd say the old timers are correct about winter.

And they wonder why men don't read instructions.

Good on you for putting your freezer to good use. We do the same with freezing a few dinners...leftovers.

It does have that feeling this year, doesn't it? Like we're going to be snowed in a lot. We could all be wrong, though. The storm that came through last night must have been a doozy but I was so exhausted I slept right through it. Even blew over the chairs stacked on my patio. They ended up all the way across on top of the bird's water dish. Luckily it didn't break. Good idea to get the lawn done before more rain. :)

The signs here say big winter. I hope the signs are wrong.

Homemade noodles... now that's something I have never tried to make. I'll bet they're tasty.

I love your new header photos. You are smart to be prepared for winter. Our weather here will be more severe and our drive is steep. We are beginning to stock our pantry too. John has sweet memories of his grandma (from Germany) making noodles.

I'm with you on the soup making. Can't wait to get back to those winter comfort foods! (Not that I'm in any rush to be c-c-cold; it's just impossible to eat those foods in 100+ degree weather!)

I've heard the almanac and the weather forecasts are for a big, snowy winter. Oh, if only I was up North because down here we get ice usually which is really worse in my opinion. After that terrible ice storm we had a few years back I always prep for winter here! A week without heat or power is hard on and old person!
