Someone had a marvelous imagination..I took this photo yesterday at the Lake Itasca Region Pioneers Farmers Show. Far Guy and I were both very impressed with this show, we walked til we were exhausted..and we will go back tomorrow to make sure we didn't miss anything. Far Guy was so impressed with this group, he says we will join them in their efforts to preserve farming and farm life like it used to be. I took lots of photos and got tons of blog fodder. It was a really fun afternoon:)

It was nice that Far Guy was able to get out and enjoy himself since he has had a rough time of it lately. It will be great to see your future posts from the Show.
ReplyDeleteFarming is a wonderful way of life - hard but very rewarding. My uncles were farmers and my best memories are of summers spent on their farms. It is sad to think that the family farm and way of life is being lost to big farming management. Tell Far Guy to go for it and do everything possible to preserve farming the way it used to be.
This is a wonderful sample of creative engineering.
ReplyDeleteI use to own a very cheap, old cabin on Lake Pokegama. The old Sunny Shores resort. It was a cooperative ownership of 18 different owners of the land. I sold the place when the expenses got to be too much for a school teacher. I sold it to my late wife's family, and they now own Itasca County property. My boys still visit there. I think living history farms are so neat. The one in Des Moines may have to be sold and moved someday, as the value of the land has become too profitable for them not to sell. The history of farming is going to be gone soon as the number of family farms have dwindled so much since I was on the farm.
ReplyDeleteThat looks fun!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you both enjoyed being out and about and I look forward to seeing more pictures. Have fun and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Far Guy enjoyed himself along with you. How is the wisdom tooth doing? lily
ReplyDeleteI tried to leave a link on this comment to a tractor video -- but it wouldn't allow it.
ReplyDeleteGo to You Tube and watch Sweet Georgia Brown 7 traktor. Hey. Maybe you sent me that video??
(ps. referencing the Wiggles. I don't get Sprout, so I can't watch them at home. Darn it.)
