A Grand Afternoon

Adam, Andy, Noah, Jen (Our youngest daughter) Paige, Savannah, Trica (Our oldest daughter)
The big guys are Paul Bunyan and Babe, at Bemidji, Minnesota.

Way last winter Far Guy decided that he would like to plan an afternoon with ALL of his grandchildren. For him it was one of those warm summer thoughts on a cold winters day. Something he could look forward to in the summer. He hoped to share a bit of himself, some of the sights and sounds that he enjoyed growing up. A few weeks ago, this trip would have been impossible for Far Guy, the pain would have kept us at home. When the weather looked great and the pain was tolerable, the phone calls were all made, everyone agreed that they would be there. They all were except for Maddie who opted out for a camping trip with one of her friends. The day went on anyway...minus one grand. The Bemidji, Minnesota Water Carnival on July 03, 2009.

The four grands had a blast, and Grandpa smiled.

He was like a little kid again.

I had a great time taking photographs, and my camera was only forgotten when I played the Nudgers with the grands, I won an orange dice and a little smiley faced frisbee! We returned to Trica's and had a picnic, it is great to have almost everyone together at least once during the summer. I suppose as the Grands get older, the most we can hope for is just a few of them at once:)

  1. It makes a perfect day when the whole family can be together. Unfortunately, it's also a rare day.

  3. Glad everyone had a great time. They are going to look back in future years and have great memories of the day they had their picture taken with Paul Bunyan and his blue ox.

I love to see my grands also but am so glad when they go home. They wear this old lady out.

  7. What a happy time for all. It's memories like that which keep us going. Minnesota and Grand Rapids use to be our summer center and the fun will never be forgotten. That Merry go round was a colorful one.

  9. What a great time. It's wonderful that you can all (well almost all) get together for a fun day. You're right - as they get older they get busier :)

  13. I lived in Bemidji when I was in 3rd grade - we have pictures of us with Babe and the Blue Ox. It was a wonderful place to live; we went back about 10 years ago and it still is a wonderful place.
