Jen was here for a couple of days, all her boys are busy…working or off at robotics camps. She brought Miney and Little Elvis over to be groomed at Chance’s groomer.
We went out for breakfast and then shopping at Ben Franklin in Wadena Minnesota. After that we went for a long drive.
This is the first sunflower field I have seen this summer in Minnesota.
This is an unopened sunflower and a little friend.
One in every crowd. Jen pointed out that one sunflower was really sad. When your head gets too full of seeds and your petals droop you might look a tad sad…or tired.
These sunflowers were planted in rows. Not something you see very often.
Like soldiers facing east.
Nothing better than a little time spent photographing sunflowers!

So cheery and utterly beautiful!
Isn't it wonderful that a consumer product can first provide so much beauty.
They are such a cheerful looking flower. I was sad this year as our local farmer didn't plant his usual crop of sunflowers.
Oh I never thought of the sunflower as being sad but it is a very different way of looking at it. Great shots I love the sunflower fields around here too. Hug B
There is another field by crookston if you take the bypass road just before the red lake river on the north side.
I haven't seen a field of sunflowers in years, and their bright blooms always make me smile.
What a lovely field of flowers. Thank you for sharing it with us. God bless. ♥
Sunflower fields are just beautiful! I love when I get volunteer ones from the birds spreading seeds.
Beautiful!
I bet Miney and Little Elvis are too!
Several years ago, we took my sister and brother-in-law for a ride to Saline, Michigan. We passed a field of sunflowers which delighted both of them.
Wonderful shots of the sunflower field! One of my most favorite photos was taken in a large field of sunflowers near Rapid City, SD. As a matter of fact, it's the wallpaper for my computer at work.
Love your header, Connie!

We don't see fields of sunflowers growing here. That first photo almost looks fake, or CGI! They are gorgeous.
I love sunflowers, and these are gorgeous! Poor little Droopy -- he reminds me of me when I'm tired!
Gosh such memories - I so remember driving to eastern SD and seeing all the fields of sunflowers. Makes ma very happy!
Wonderful shots. And cheery ones (despite the odd sad flower). We don't often see sunflowers growing in fields in the UK - sometimes in the south - though I have seen them in France and they are a wonderful sight. Thank you - you brightened the afternoon a treat!
I love sunflowers and your photos are wonderful. Wish I was there, LOL
I didn't know that they still had Ben Franklin's anymore . . . I grew up in northern Indiana and we had a Ben Franklin and a Woolworth in our town. If you couldn't find what you wanted at one, then you could at the other.
Come over, I'm having a Give-A-Way.
Connie :)
Oh, so wonderful. fields of sunflowers!
I picked up on the Ben Franklin store too. I haven't seen one of those in a long time.
Photographing not just flowers but sunflowers. the sunflower is sometimes overlooked for some of the showier flowers
I remember years ago when we would head south from Grand Rapids and would drive through all of those sunflowers. I didn't think they had them in rows back then. Maybe they combine easier in rows. The ones that I planted are growing with leaps and bounds. My mammoth variety will be taller than these but I bet they don't want a lot of stems when it comes harvest time. Good job on the photos.
Gorgeous field of sunshine! Doesn't it just make you smile?
Now that's a happy field! Very eye-catching.
I love seeing the sunflowers. Beautiful photography. We no longer have Ben Franklin stores but mama and I always enjoyed visiting there years ago.
I love the sunflower fields - you don't see them too often. There is one just W of town this year - I am waiting..... :) - Nice to see you and Far Guy the other night!
absolutely gorgeous!
Not much I can add to what's already been said. I'm another one who finds sunflowers gorgeous.
Just beautiful! I love the cheerfulness of sunflowers and yes, I've never seen them planted in rows before! :-)
I planted twice and very few of my sunflowers came up this summer. I am so sad as they are one of my favorite flowers and when they are done blooming, the birds are all over them. Or used to be. Not sure what happened :-(.
Years ago we planted sunflowers in our VA veggie garden and I always enjoyed both looking at and photographing them. These were cheerful and yes I have seen them planted in rows.
The sunflowers are so pretty! I've caught up reading again...all the way back to your date night. :) Happy birthday to Savannah. She is a beautiful girl. She looks very sweet too. You had a lot of nerve shooting that gun. I would never have been able to pull that trigger!
