Happy Spring!

We left East Grand Forks to go back home and sign our taxes so they could be electronically filed.

The fields were steaming it was so warm.  We picked a couple of great days to travel!

64 degrees in March...now that was nice!  We went out for supper in downtown Park Rapids and then back to our home for a good nights sleep.  The next morning it was still 50 some degrees as we welcomed the first day of Spring!

Not much snow as we travelled back up North.

It was a good trip and Sadie was happy to see us again.

Cold

It might be cold but at least its windy.

I snagged this photo from facebook.  Just thought I would share.

I finished the Coodie for Jen yesterday...they still walk Sadie on days when it is above zero.

Here I am taking a selfie with Jen's Coodie.  So that project is done!

We went as far as the Post Office yesterday to mail the tax forms back to our accountant...so cross that off of our list too!

It has been one week since the steroid injection into my back.  I still have pain and a horrid numbness...I have to be real careful how I walk...as I cannot feel the outer portion of my left leg and foot...all my toes are numb except for my big toe.  I am hopeful that this next week will make a difference in the pain.

Day after

We are birthday and valentined out.   I took Far Guy out for supper on his birthday, he had a Clucker ( Chicken with cheese and bacon) and I had a plain old burger just the way I like them nothing else touching my meat and bun.   Far Guy said he had a good day and 73 seems older than 72 or at a minimum sounds older!  He says "Thanks for all the birthday wishes!"

After supper on Valentine Day...Andy cooked...Philly Cheese Nachos... we took Valentines to the little kids.

Now back to our normal scheduled activities.  Onward and forward to another year!

I finally got the tax info in the mail to the account...so I can cross something off my list!

End of the week

Our weather is finally seasonal...chilly... but not freeze your butt off.

This week I finished gathering all the Income Tax stuff, it is ready to go to the accountant next week...yeah me!  I also corrected all the change of addresses from Christmas in my address book....and on my computer address list....yes I keep both current.  That was my "paperwork" for the week.

Christmas decorations have been put away properly...I had them laying on the stairs and shoved through the railing upstairs... no one visits so who really cares...well I guess I do.

I found a very old stale bag of pretzels shoved way back on the top shelf in the laundry/furnace/pantry room.   I dumped them out under the bird feeders...some squirrels liked them others ignored them...one would grab one and take off.   The next morning they were all gone...we figured a squirrel had been really busy all night long.  The next night there was a bit of moonlight shining through the clouds and I saw a deer by the bird feeders...mystery solved.

Far Guy is woodcarving and painting. ( I help him paint a little)

He goes over to my brothers shop and visits his new old car...the brakes are better now...and they are working on replacing a Pinion Seal what ever that is.  Some kind of a special gas can that cannot spill has been ordered...I think it still needs a special wooden box that is strapped down...and we have to make a gas run to town these old cars need non- oxygenated gasoline and that is sold only a few places.  Who knew.  Alcohol in gasoline is the problem...it is harder on the older gas tank, fuel lines and engine. Old cars always an adventure.

** Daughter Jen had a Robin on her deck yesterday... A Robin in January...isn't that something!

Found

Far Guy's robot vacuum Dracula found the puzzle piece...my theory is that one piece was dropped and Dracula threw it under the couch and it took several days to unearth it from under there...Far Guy found it yesterday morning near my computer chair...it will join the other pieces again.   I took the puzzle apart a few days ago. ( we call the vacuum Dracula because it goes nuts in sunlight and sometimes it vacuums at night all by itself)

I found time to work on the income taxes...they are all set to go to the accountant after all the proper forms come in the mail....I hate that job so I am happy to have it done.  No I am not nuts enough to do the taxes myself....one audit will scare you half to death..and I am happy to have an accountant.

Roger (the Sexton at the local cemetery) called so I  have found general areas to search for the graves I am looking for ...I just need the snow to melt.  My theory is that some of the older graves have markers that sunk and have been covered with grass.  I wonder what is the best way to search for them?

I found out that the Minneapolis Star Tribune offered four days free to search their Newspaper Archives...that was fun.

I found an old ad in the paper and Far Guy's parents phone number was 216J.  This ad was from June of 1953. My parents phone number was 12F12O around that same time.

I also found some bits of family history that no one ever wants to talk about....how much is true and how much is exaggerated journalism remains to been seen.  Kinda like journalism today.

Staying busy

I am busy with various craft projects when it is so cold.   I crochet, color and think of new projects I might like to try.

I went crazy one day and stamped a whole box full of images.  When I am tired of that project I just put the cover on the box…out of sight out of mind.

workbox of cards

Some have been watercolored…I do like watercoloring.

cards

The watering can is one of the spring designs I am working on.

I finished up the tax paperwork for the accountant!  Yeah me!  It is all ready to drop off at his office.  I am always glad to put tax work behind me.

I am going to physical therapy twice a week for my hamstring tendon injury.  Physical Therapy is not painful until afterwards…then I get pain I cannot sleep through…they said that is normal and part of the healing process. It is a real pain in the butt.

We were –40 F again Thursday morning.  Just another fine Minnesota day.  So Long January…hello February.

Dreary Days

We have not seen the sun in days..it has been warm..in the 30 degree range..one day almost 40 degrees. Really nice weather for March..but I need me some sun. Sun and blue skies..

I finally got the freaking taxes done and to the accountant. An audible sigh of relief should have been heard across Minnesota. Now it is just a wait to have them completed. I am no good at depreciation schedules..or I could do the darn things myself. I could try..but since I might make some huge mistake and get a large packet in the mail.. and then they will want to know how many times I went to the bathroom in the past year..and whether it was hard or soft..dark or light..smelly or non smelly. I just take them to the accountant, he gets paid well enough to make no errors.

Things I do to occupy myself on dreary rainy days, I clean out drawers and organize "stuff." I have a afternoon nap. I even cooked one day. Neighbors have come for coffee..they were restless. Chance and I went to visit Hooch and Odda, those two are always happy to see me! Chance and I drive aimlessly on the muddy, rutty country roads..looking for some sign of spring. Well if mud is a sign.. then it is here. Then just for fun there is the inevitable Doctors appointment, where everyone knows your first name because you are a regular.

I had my last eye appointment..and a pair of reading glasses was ordered. In ten days I will get them. My eyes are all healed up..better than new. My vision is 20/20 and 20/25. The Doctor says my eyes are still fighting...my right eye was dominant and then since it had the worst cataracts..the left took over cause he is helpful, after the first surgery the right was top dog because he could finally see something, then the left was repaired and all hell broke lose..the left is way better than the right..so after fifty some years of being right eye dominant..I am smack dab in the middle of an eye war. Sometimes they fight so bad, I just have to take charge and close them. It is quite an adjustment not wearing glasses for the first time in fifty years. In a perfect world, I would have the ability to focus and see close up like before..but have the distance vision that I have now. But it is not a perfect world..so I will settle for a pair of prescription readers.

We spring ahead on Saturday night..the last time we sprung ahead..my computer crashed. I wish we could just be on one time. Real Time.. what a novel idea.

All non dreary photos taken last summer:)
