Smoky Air

It was a wildfire smoke day here in our part of Minnesota.  We had planned to go to one of the first car shows of the season....but the air quality kept us indoors all day.  We had looked forward to getting out with Tilly.

Far Guy got out the flower carvings he worked on all last winter.  He wanted to do a mock up arrangement before putting the flowers on a wooden base.

He has a very pretty walnut board for the display.

I worked on the border of my mosaic crochet Winter Wonderland.  It is almost done.

The smoke is supposed to be less soon.  It is a red alert meaning the air is unhealthy for everyone. Hard to stay inside but we watched the birds and the bunnies and the tailless squirrel in the yard through the windows.

We both had naps in the afternoon.

Thursday Things

Thursday's Infusion went okay only one stick but the IV bag had a slow leak.  If it isn't one thing it is another.

We went to Hobby Lobby after Far Guy was done, he needed a piece of basswood for carving and I needed  wanted some yarn.  I had quite a list...I decided on the May Basket design and needed paper etc, and I needed some do dads for cards.

Far Guy, Little Elvis and I had a nap in the afternoon. In the evening I cleaned the kitchen at Jen and Andy's Air B&B...we had quite a crew... Jen, Andy, Noah, Adam, Maddie and me.  It is all ready for the next group.

We are supposed to have a Winter Storm starting on Thursday night into Friday and possibly Saturday.

We all have enough projects to keep us busy!

Here is Jen's latest project...she has a completed flimsy.

She has been working on this robot quilt since October.  Well done Jen!  She sews much better than I ever did.

Projects

My Nordic Afghan border is taking a long time to finish.  Round and Round I go!

I am working on some cards but nothing is finished, I am just busy making parts that will eventually be cards...ordered some supplies.

Can you believe I had to order refill pages for the Grands albums?  That means there are 300 photos in their albums already.  As they are getting older I take less photos of them so I should be good for awhile! 2019 has been completed.

I am a painting and flower/leaf consultant to Far Guy.

In the meantime I keep one eye on Far Guy, I clean a bit, do laundry and cook occasionally...and pet the dogs.

Saturday Stuff

 24 F or  - 4 C  it warmed up!

We had a quiet Saturday.  Jen is feeling better and no one else is sick...yet.

I worked on the Grands photo albums and my mosaic crochet project.   Far Guy woodcarved.  He has an idea for a bigger project.

Recently he finished an orchid woodcarving.

Photo Project

I am making progress on my photo project and the past week I picked out photos from 2012 and 2013.  Progress.   I order them online and pick them up on Thursday when I am out and about.

I usually choose group photos of the five Grands and other photos that make me smile, or a fun memory.  I discovered that I was not great at taking birthday photos.

I mark the date on the back of the photo and then sort them out for each Grand and put them in the album.

Each Grand has a different color album.

2012 Maddie and Noah shaking up cans of soda and getting sticky...they did catch some soda in their mouths but mostly just laughed!  Grape Soda...this photo will appear in both Noah and Maddie's album.

Quiet cold day

It was a quiet cold day.  We did not get above zero all day.

Not much was accomplished.  I worked on the Grands photos albums.  2011 is complete and I began pulling photos from 2012.  It is a good winter time project.  I crocheted for awhile and watched some old reruns of Project Runway.   Sadie had a calm day also...too cold to do much outside.

End of the week

Our weather is finally seasonal...chilly... but not freeze your butt off.

This week I finished gathering all the Income Tax stuff, it is ready to go to the accountant next week...yeah me!  I also corrected all the change of addresses from Christmas in my address book....and on my computer address list....yes I keep both current.  That was my "paperwork" for the week.

Christmas decorations have been put away properly...I had them laying on the stairs and shoved through the railing upstairs... no one visits so who really cares...well I guess I do.

I found a very old stale bag of pretzels shoved way back on the top shelf in the laundry/furnace/pantry room.   I dumped them out under the bird feeders...some squirrels liked them others ignored them...one would grab one and take off.   The next morning they were all gone...we figured a squirrel had been really busy all night long.  The next night there was a bit of moonlight shining through the clouds and I saw a deer by the bird feeders...mystery solved.

Far Guy is woodcarving and painting. ( I help him paint a little)

He goes over to my brothers shop and visits his new old car...the brakes are better now...and they are working on replacing a Pinion Seal what ever that is.  Some kind of a special gas can that cannot spill has been ordered...I think it still needs a special wooden box that is strapped down...and we have to make a gas run to town these old cars need non- oxygenated gasoline and that is sold only a few places.  Who knew.  Alcohol in gasoline is the problem...it is harder on the older gas tank, fuel lines and engine. Old cars always an adventure.

Hunting

I like to hunt with my camera.

The little spotted fawns grew up and lost their spots.  They are now sporting heavy winter coats.

This fawn came into the yard and I took photos through the window.

The fawn was our fun for the morning!

I wrote an email complaint to the grocery store headquarters about the refusal of phone orders.  They called me and it seems they still do phone in orders...and they are not sure which employee my Mom talked to.  I told the store manager to call my Mom and to give her his phone number in case it happens again.  Problem solved for now.

I can see the end in sight with my Christmas cards and my crochet projects are coming along.

Life is very exciting here in the woods.
