Thoughts of Spring
Far Guy took away the Electric Snow Shovel...that piece of equipment saved my shoulders from many aches and pains. No worries my other snow shovel is still near the door. I expect that we will get more snow before Spring really gets here.
I bought a new stamp.
A Trillium. It was on the sale table...truth be told I would have bought it anyway even if it had been regular price.
These will be cards ...eventually. The shiny one on the right is done with a pearl watercolor paint. Far Guy and I both agreed that it was TOO much.
Simple is better...the rest were done with Prismacolor pencils, watercolors and a glitter pen.
If Spring cannot be here yet...working with Spring like images is the next best thing!
The snow is melting and revealing many twigs and branches that litter the yard. Snow really hides lots of "stuff."
Our Trillium will be blooming in about six weeks.

Looking for Spring
Silly me ...it is still winter here in Minnesota.
We lost 5 inches of snow at the snowstick in the past few days. It reads 16 inches on the first day of Spring.
I did find some mud in the driveway...perhaps that is good enough "Spring" for now.
I got a broken tooth fixed at the Dentist, went to Physical Therapy and Far Guy saw his Pulmonologist. Just two more medical appointments this week. Far Guy is back on steroids for a bit, he has a wheeze and a bad cough. Next week we only have three medical appointments...practically a week off.

Eyes, Buds and May Baskets
We both had eye exams yesterday. You could still drown in the dark pools that were my eyes late yesterday…I was thankful when the sun went down. We both passed our exams. I have to go back for some more testing, but that is nothing new I have to do that every year. Far Guy had not been to the eye doctor since 2008…I thought he was there about four years ago…how time flies..seven years had gone by. Anyways we can cross that off our list.
Our Lilac has buds.
Our weather has been unseasonably warm this week with most every afternoon in the 70 F range or 21 C eh!
My Double Flowering Plum is about to burst forth in blooms.
It was a busy week. Garage Sales have started with the warmer weather so that is always an adventure!
My May Baskets are filled and are ready to deliver later today.
Happy May Day!

Spring Gifts!
Jen went on a Spring Vacation to Miami and brought us back a bit of summer.
It had more margarita flavored Jelly Belly's in it…but some went missing. I have not had a margarita since last October it may be time ( I always ask for half strength…full strength makes me giggle and walk funny)
My Mom made Far Guy a Chance inspired table runner and place mats to match.
Blog reader Dale spent some of his quiet time this winter after two surgeries woodburning Chance’s likeness into some wood. Thanks Dale!
Our other spring gift is mud.
Yes we still have snow, but it is melting and making mud.
Happy First Day of Spring!

Three Signs of Spring
We saw a Bald Eagle the other day, the first sighting this winter/spring. The streams and little creeks that have water flowing are opening up.
The second sign is the chairs that have been delivered to Ace Hardware. Spring colors for sure.
Looks to me like there are a few more colors in the back too… yellow for sure! They should have the best selection of colorful chairs around!
Bad Medicine Lake 2012
The third sign of spring was a dead skunk at the side of the road, they have come out to be lovey dovey and one apparently didn’t look both ways before crossing the road for a rendezvous with his sweetheart. Stricken down during his quest, either that or it was a suicidal skunk. Whatever he is now what I call “a very good skunk.”

First Day of Spring
One more day..one more day…I am wishing my life away. The last winter program for the Historical Museum happens Tuesday (today yea!!!!) I will be glad to get it over with. This program has involved lots of work. I made a slide show presentation. (Then and Now) I have a passel of things to drag out of the museum and get organized as a display.
Far Guy got a new lumberjack shirt. His volunteer uniform consists of jeans, a red and black checked flannel shirt, a hat to match, suspenders and red socks peeking above his boots. Others participating in the program will be dressed in costumes. They asked me who I was coming as..I replied..plain old me. I wanted to sew a Prairie Dress over the winter..but it was just one of those things that never got done. Me and sewing with a machine is a real stretch of my imagination.
I tried to sew some quilt squares yesterday..after six hours I have nothing to show for my efforts..I do not have the tools to keep the squares square. The stupid sewing machine sits on my desk, for now it has won the battle..but I plan to win the war and will begin all over again one day soon. I might have to go buy some more material if I keep messing up. But it ain’t over til it’s over.
I have stacks of old photos all over..I am in the midst of scanning the last couple of batches for Forgotten Old Photos. I will not have time to scan and research them over the summer, so all of that ground work is being laid now.
I have not worked on the Cousins Recipe Book at all lately..it is on my radar. I had been working on it late at night. I just want to get it over with!
After the dreaded program I will re evaluate everything…. I have bathroom tile to strip and reseal..and bathroom drawers to clean out…and a garage to straighten up. If it ain’t one thing it is forty million others.
Chance had his first deer tick today, it was not stuck, it was just crawling in his fur. We saw Robins in town but none out here yet. Although “she who sees robins first” probably saw them last week.
Happy First Day of Spring! :)

Backing Up "Stuff"
Now I have a question..I have been backing up my photos to Cd's..how long do they last before they lose their integrity? And where is the best place to store them? So far I just put mine in a photo storage boxes, that I keep in an armoire. Technically..I shouldn't have to back up to Cd's anymore ..but I would better be safe than sorry..so I will continue. More "stuff" for the kids to throw out when we are old and decrepit.
Today is the first day that there is even a hint of Spring in the air. Snow is melting and we have puddles...by the end of the day we might even have some mud..whoohoo..I am sure it is just a little taste of spring....winter will rear its ugly head in a day or two:)
