4 legged friends

Little Elvis moved right into our room.  He is mostly deaf now so he and I get along just fine.

Little Elvis is 13 years old.   He is getting grey around the muzzle but was so happy to see us!

Sadie is just Sadie...a tail wagging spoiled monster sometimes.   She was happy to see us too!

She likes the day time company...but looks out the window for her people to return.  She lays on the window seat and rests her snout on the window ledge....and looks pathetic.

We are mostly settled in, we did some grocery and odd and ends shopping yesterday.   I ordered a cube storage thing that holds baskets, so we put that together.

Bleeding Hearts

Jen has some beautiful Bleeding Hearts right next to the front walk.

I am surprised that they didn’t winter kill right next to the sidewalk.  The Hosta nearby will take over once the Bleeding Heart dies back and disappears…it is always good to have a plant in the same area so if you are watering the roots of the Bleeding Heart get some water.

I had another busy day with Sadie and Little Elvis. One day I left them to nap and went to Hobby Lobby, I have several projects in the works that I needed supplies for…and now I have a few more projects!  I wandered down almost every aisle. Yarn may have been purchased.

The big excitement was Phoebes escape…she scooted out the front door…I figured she was lost forever…she came home a few hours later.

Phoebe is Adam’s cat…he was at work when she went missing.  I told Phoebe she is on my you know what list.

I intended to read a book while I was here BUT some dog does not like me reading.

The Grandboys are in charge of the critters now as I am headed back home to Far Guy.

Gone to the dogs

I am taking care of the Grand dogs for a couple of days.  Little Elvis is an easy keeper.  Sadie likes lots of attention.  We play ball many times a day.

The grass in the back yard must be tasty as both dogs are snacking from time to time.

There is no napping here as Sadie brings me every toy she has, dropping it on my head or sticking it right in my face.  She is quite the character.  I (we) helped to spoil her so I should not complain.

Sadie is a happy well loved dog.

Elvis and Sadie Days

We spent some time UP North with Little Elvis and Sadie...and Phoebe Adam's cat too.

Little Elvis was more than happy to spend the night locked away in our room.  However Sadie came to wake him early in the morning and he in turn woke me up!

They are pals to a certain extent.  Little Elvis wants to be in charge and when Sadie lets him he is happiest.  She is a tad jealous of him and if you are petting him she will push him out of the way so you can pet her.  Little Elvis being an elderly dogs likes naps.  When he is napping and Sadie wants him to wake up she touches his paw and he is instantly awake!

It was fun watching Sadie catching rain drops in her mouth one day.  If we could all be that happy in the never ending rain!

Sadie is turning more of a red color.  Her light colored shoulders are pretty much gone.  She is filling out nicely.  Her tail got longer and she is getting some longer hair ...a bit of feathering on her tail and legs.   She can swim as Andy found out one day on a walk...she dove head first into the water and swam around.

Sadie likes attention and enjoyed having us around.   She was a little bossy...she wanted to be let out the patio door when she is capable of using the doggy door.  She carried off Far Guys shoes on a regular basis...shoes seem to be her favorite thing to collect...she grabs them and then runs away with them growling the entire time.  Silly dog.   I won't give her any treats unless she is on her bed in the kitchen, she knows this, she also knows that Far Guy will give her treats where ever she is at.   She knows us TOO well.

Sadie 5 months old

We shall miss Sadie, especially Far Guy as he loves to irritate and play with her.   She likes men better than women.  She is reliably potty trained, comes most of the time when called, she knows sit, down and is working on stay.  She can let herself in and out of the doggie door, she quietly sleeps in the kitchen at night.  Her kennel remains in the living room...Phoebe is often found sleeping inside the kennel.

Sadie should go to dog obedience classes and is on the waiting list.

We will also miss Little Elvis when we are back at our home in the woods.

Sadie in the back yard she has a safe fenced in yard to run and play.  Her nose is always busy!

She has grown so much!  She is a big girl now!

The snow that most everyone else got yesterday in Minnesota  showed up here as just a trace of snow.  Not enough to make the ground white.

Adventures in food

Jen and Andy are introducing us to different foods.

One night it was a P.B.E.B.  Translated is is a burger with Peanut Butter, Egg and Bacon.  Far Guy tried it...I did not...way to many foods all together for my compartmentalized stomach.

The next night it was Louisiana Chicken Pasta, they let me have my chicken separate and I had no mushrooms.  Far Guy really liked it,  I ate it...the pasta was cooked perfectly and the garlic bread served along side was delicious!   I should have taken a photo because it was a very pretty dish.  Very pleasing to the eye.   I would eat it again in a couple of months.

The kitchen here is very large and many people can be cooking, dicing and slicing all at once, or just sitting at the island watching others cook!  Sadie often falls asleep on my feet waiting for me to drop something.

Ever watchful...wondering when it is their turn to eat again...they are always fed first before people.

Far Guy and I went out for breakfast date one morning after a Doctors appointment.  We asked for our check and someone had paid it for us...how nice was that!

Sadie: 12 weeks old

Sadie is a character.  She keeps us all entertained.  She attacks the cat Phoebe and Little Elvis with wild abandon.  She does a death roll with Little Elvis hair...he gets after her but she doesn't give up. Sometimes her name is Sadie Monster and most of the time Sadie NO.   She is persistent but will give up after about five No commands.   Sometimes she gives up by sitting and barking sharply as if to say "Well ok but I am not happy with you!"

Her potty training is going well, she goes to the patio door to be let out...most of the time.   At twelve weeks old her potty training is going as good as I expected.  She walks well on a leash and knows the command sit.  We are working on "off" and she doesn't like "down" at all.   She comes most of the time when called.

Don't let those sweet sad eyes fool you.

Sadie is as big as the cat now.

I am positive that Phoebe was raised someplace that had puppies because she puts up with more puppy foolishness than any cat I have ever known.  AND sometimes she asks for it...she runs away from Sadie and then plops down a few feet away...and the game is on again.

Grocery Day

Grocery Day was a day early this week.   Far Guy and I went to a Wally World that is a bit out of town ( there are two in the area) and is not as busy.  You can socially distance easily and we wore masks.  Heinz 57 Steak Sauce was not on the shelves,  or heavy cream so Far Guy got the half and half.  He rode a cart throughout the store...I didn't feel guilty at all sending him off for items.  It was his first day out of the house since last Thursday.

We got home, disinfected everything, washed fruit and then we made soup.  This weeks soup was Italian Sausage, Chicken Broth and Potatoes, you brown the sausage, add the broth and the diced potatoes and let it cook in a slow cooker all afternoon.  Shortly before serving you add about a cup of half and half and a big handful of baby spinach...yummy. After you ladle it into bowls you add bacon bits. There are left overs in the fridge.  You can add other stuff..onion...celery...but I do not.

We don't spend any time in this rocking chair.  The kitty Phoebe and Little Elvis like our company during the day!  Some nights Little Elvis sleeps with us...sometimes not..it all depends on who his favorite person is at the moment!

Change in Direction

Over the weekend we left our cozy little home in the woods in the capable hands of Lissette our house sitter and my brothers and my nephews watchful eyes.

We moved Up North to the city where our youngest daughter Jen and her husband Andy live.   They helped us unpack and get settled in. We will be here a few months or until they kick us out.  We are closer to Far Guy's Doctors and Specialists for the winter, instead of a three hour drive they are just across town.  Someone is usually home here so if I leave for a few minutes Far Guy is well taken care of.

We have a very nice room with a bathroom right outside the door.  The whole house is massive...I had to tell Far Guy if I am in a different part of the house and he needs me ...he will have to call me on the cell phone.

Little Elvis is such a good companion, he waits in front of the front door making sure we don't leave without him.  He sleeps in our room at night or right outside the door...I nearly fell over him one night when I opened the door to go to the bathroom...he can still move pretty fast for an older dog! ( Good thing I am a  little slower in the middle of the night)

We are adjusting to a new room, news beds..everything is a bit different from back home.  Change is good, we are comfortable here and get to see Grandson Adam every day.  Jen and Andy are patient with us and we are so thankful for them!

I will be going back home to the woods from time to time, to check on the house, to see my brothers and my parents.  I can pick my travel days according to the weather and driving conditions.  Far Guy will accompany me if he feels okay, if not he is in safe capable hands here.

Summer

Summer came this week ..it was 99.9 degrees with about 95 % humidity on Wednesday.  So the subsequent days where it has only been in the eighty’s seemed cool. There is as much air conditioning as there is heat in the museum..and that would be zero. I am very thankful for the air conditioning at home!
Miney and Little Elvis visited for part of the week.
IMG_4021
All of their masters wanted to stay in a fancy smancy hotel/resort where no animals were allowed.  Miney and Little Elvis love staying with us..well they love staying with Far Guy and Chance.
IMG_4025
Much ball was played… Chance was hiding behind a tree sneaking a peek for an airborne ball. Chance loves having visitors.
IMG_4028
They were happy content (tired) dogs at the end of the day. Chance never gets tired or cranky with his company..he shares everything..his food and water dish and he takes turns playing ball with Miney. Little Elvis just runs along side them both..and occasionally he will grab a tail and hang on..he is a stinker.  Chance would have shared his pool with them too..but neither of them are real fond of water.  When he jumps in his pool and splashes water the other dogs look at him like he is nuts:)

Chance: I Met Elvis!

Far Side broke the news gently " Your sister got a new best friend for Miney"  I am being replaced.. how is that possible?

Elvis meets and greets Chance!
I got the lecture..be nice..he is just a baby..he is just little.. "BE NICE" ..be a good boy...be polite.

He is not polite..what part of polite grabs your tail..how is this fair?  Someone ought to take him back to his mother. I lifted my lip a little..my sister noted that..she has an eagle eye.. my tail was still wagging. It was only a half snarl anyway..you would snarl too if you had been replaced.

Now he is following me..how did that happen..Miney help!

I guess we could be a threesome..but it won't be like in the olden days when it was just Miney and me.  It might work out. I hope he learns his name soon.. My sister has to holler "Puppy, Puppy, Puppy."   Ya, ya I know he is just little..:)
