I am doing a deep sort of all the photos that I have with me. I brought a huge tote of photos with me. I will guess that I brought about 3,000 photos with me. I am making progress. I have begun the sort for our own album/albums. I have mostly finished with our daughter's albums. So there is forward progress.
It all takes time. Since we have a few less Doctor appointments I do have some time. I discovered that I should have brought Far Guy's album with me to redo...alas it is back at home. Oh well I will get to it someday. In the meantime photos that should be included in his album are being sorted.
Some things you even forget you have. Like this old postcard photo taken back before there were zip codes...there were other codes...E84E what ever that means. We owned this resort from 1987 to 1995. So it is a bit of our history. I would guess the photo was taken in the 1940's -1950's.
Interesting that the old metal glider was there. Far Guy took off the old paint and repainted it and put new wood on it and it was just like new and people used it all the time:) FYI the photograph must have been taken at the waters edge or else the photographer stood in the water.
Far Guy's Infusion went well...only one stick for the IV ! I went to Aldi and bought fruit.
Minnesota weather; High was 29 F or -2C Low was 13F or -11C. Nice weather for January. However every place you walk there is ice. Oh well January is only 1/3 done we still have time for a brutal Minnesota Winter!
Far Side
My great grandparents used to own a resort as well. It is fun looking at the pictures, of which there are many, and seeing them at a time before I knew them. When I was young enough to be aware, my grandparents didn't own a resort but took me and my brother every summer to the same one for a number of years. I still have found memories of that resort and have done some sleuthing in the past to know it still exists as a resort but likely doesn't look much like what it did when I was there. But resorts and resorting stopped with them and instead has been replaced by a family cabin in a scenic part of this world, which is kind of like a resort but for just our family.
ReplyDeleteSG got an infusion yesterday for his blood cancer. He feels much better today.
ReplyDeleteI love the old photo. Somethings you don’t forget. Growing up my phone number was 438-6451.
ReplyDeleteSorting all those photos takes so much time. It's a big job but you're obviously making progress. We woke up to snow this morning - not enough to cover ALL the brown, but a nice heavy dusting. I think we're only expecting about an inch.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of photographs to sort through. What great memories you have of the resort, though I'm certain it was a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteHere we were in the 60's yesterday (with 25 mph winds so we couldn't enjoy it) and this morning in the 30's. So glad I buy my kleenex by the case.
ReplyDeleteI really admire your perseverance with the photo albums!
I find photos that I've forgotten about when I sort.
ReplyDeleteOh the memories that old photographs conjure up! I'm happy you're getting to this task, Connie. Enjoy! Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou inspired me. I have photos and comments from a scrapbook I started for my youngest son that I plan to move from the original scrapbook which is falling apart to a new one to give to him.
ReplyDeleteYou are making a lot of progress! Me not so much. Unless you count reading about your photo progress *^*
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool place to own! I wish we had a Aldi.
ReplyDeleteHoping that your winter stays mild so that you can enjoy it. And, enjoy all those old photos.
