Books, Blue Sky and Back

I read Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson.   It is about the Yellow Fever Epidemic in Philadelphia through the eyes of a teenager.  It is Historical Fiction.

It was an easy read.  I give it an 8 out of a 10.

I made vegetable beef soup for supper.  It was really good.
It was a nice day with blue skies and sunshine.

Minnesota weather; High 36 F or 2C Low was 23F or -5C eh!

My MRI results are back and there is nothing wrong in my back that requires surgery.  I will continue with PT and I have an appointment with a pain management Doctor.  The PT says I should never stand still but shift my weight back and forth when standing. At the present time I am taking 10 mg of Prednisone every day as recommended by my Rheumatologist.  I failed the Methotrexate that he prescribed last month...it gave me tremors. What can I say I am complicated.

  2. Glad to hear you don't have to endure back surgery, but do hope they figure out what's going on. But all in all good news.

  3. What a great report on the MRI results. This is a big Win. Methotrexate is a strong med and can cause some big side effects. I see my rheumatologist next month and I am sure hoping he doesn't increase or change my meds. I think Connie, the older we get the more complicated we all get.

  4. Standing still absolutely kills me. I have been shifting my position and feet for many years when in a situation where I have to stand for awhile. It makes a big difference, along with what shoes I am wearing.

  5. I have put your book recommendation on the Hold list on the Libby App so I can read it. Also, I gave the info to my SIL in NYS. She did say that she thought . . . . Frozen . . . . was going to be dark and depressing, too but it has not been heavy, dark, or bleak to her.
I am so sorry you have had difficulty with the medicines - - but it makes me realize I am not the only one whose body says, "No!" to what doctors recommend. My liver is just now almost recovered from liver inflammation after taking Augmentin. It is not the amoxicillin that is the problem but the pot clavulanate component. I may have mentioned my liver acted up a couple of years ago and that is when they found the GF issue. Now I can't even take aspirin or other pain meds without a flare.
I am a bit jealous you can take prednisone. Hope it is helping. As always, thanks for the update. Does your back hurt badly all the time or more if you stand too much or the barometric pressure is falling before a storm?

    1. All the time except when lying down, more before a storm or if I do too much.

  7. Our bodies are all unique and in general complicated. So many variables. Dr's just make their best educated guess. Glad you don't have to have back surgery.

  8. Aging bodies...we don't understand how frustrating they are until those aging bodies are our bodies.

  10. The frosty tree is very pretty.
Back problems are such a conundrum. Hope they can find something that works for you

  11. That blue sky is wonderful. We haven't seen sunshine in a few days - just grey overcast. Makes me tired. Some sunshine would be good medicine. It's good to hear they don't see a need for surgery. I'm convinced that PT can be better than drugs - at least it was in my case in particular when I had Achilles tendonitis about 5 years ago. The anti-inflammatory meds just didn't do much. But the PT finally cleared it up. Hang in there!!

  12. I know "complicated" and it's not fun, but thankfully I am less complicated than you. Keep on trying to find what works for your pain.

  13. Ted's favourite homemade soup is beef'n'barley. I like vegetable beef!
There is a website (also on facebook) called The Weeds And Seeds Guy. It is all about plants as medicine and gets scientific about the components and benefits of plants, some we hever even considered as medicinal.

  14. Yesterday we had 60F, today we have snow! Nebraska! I'm sorry about your back and as you know, I can truly sympathize. I hope eventually they can find something that will work for you.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  16. I always hope and cross my fingers for easy fixes. Never is it that simple. Back pain is awful.

  18. Glad you don't need surgical intervention, but like others have said, I do hope they find a way to manage your pain more readily.
The tree covered in frost is lovely, as is the blue sky. I can admire it from afar. :)
