Weekend Stuff

We wood carved on the Christmas Ornaments, made progress and will continue until we have it all done!

My lawn mower still starts after it's Summer rest.  I used it to spray/kill the weeds/Round Up the rocks by the house, we even have a tree growing in the rocks.  I had to see if the lawn mower still mows and it does.  It went well for my first time on the mower since about June 6.  I know I cannot be on the mower for hours but a little at a time is possible unless I drive like a wild woman!

Flowers in town

Supper was a salad and leftovers.  Chalk up another night of no cooking!

Minnesota weather; High 77F or 25C Low was 63F or 18C

  1. Many years ago when I was single and lived in apartments, I used to wood carve in the evening. I always found it very relaxing though I was not the best at it. I've always thought that when I got older and spent less time in my garage, it might be a hobby that I pick up again.

  2. I miss mowing but not in the heat down here! We're still in the 90's. We finally got a bit of rain yesterday but I have to water my mum twice a day to keep it alive. The weeds seem to be fine regardless. The grass is a bit green since the rain but mostly brown. I get worried about fire danger. Good for you guys on the ornaments!

  4. My lawn mower is so important to me. I worry about its demise. I paid on it 5 years and it’s finally paid for. I’m so glad yours started right up. Maybe you can take short rides on Ranger Blue soon too!

  6. My favorite kind of supper....leftovers. Wheeee!!! Be careful of that Roundup, Connie. It' a huge carcinogen! My brother won a lawsuit against Monsanto because of it....too bad he died before the money was rewarded to him. Love, Andrea xoxo

  7. Glad your mower was faithful in starting after it's summer rest. Goodness, the flower pot is so pretty and I'm sure the flowers are enjoying your cooler weather. Hope you will (I know you will) be very cautious on the mower and take your time... Glad you are doing so much better..

  10. Our lawn mower only rests in the winter time, since we water our lawn. The last mowing is usually around mid November. I'm happy for you that you can get out and do some mowing, even if just a little at a time. Easy does it.

  11. Getting out and doing stuff is good for the mental game when we are recovering from lack of mobility.

  13. Come on! Put the pedal to the metal on that lawn mower! Make the grass fly! Good that you have recuperated enough to get on the mower.

  15. Small victories but small is all you need. Things will get done even if you have to do them little by little. A cousin-in-law who is a two time breast cancer survivor taught me that.

  16. LD...Our grass has gone dormant. It will take a rain tor revive it for sure. I can only work for an hour or two and then go inside to cool off.

  17. My interest is peaked as to the Christmas ornament for this year. I know I cherish the one I have. I’m glad you’re able to get back out on the mower. I also know how frustrating is not to do the things you want to do because of pain. We made it to our campsite this afternoon and just came inside after a wonderful talk around the fire with our friends. It’s pretty warm though. Still in the upper 80s at 10:15 at night.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  18. I know you'll take it easy on the mower. Funny how much we can miss ordinary tasks when we can't do them. Pretty flowers.
