Finally the weather outlook is good as it may not freeze anymore.
I am done rotating the seedlings in the kitchen window and saving them when the sun was too warm and blowing on them to simulate wind they will encounter when planted out doors. We have one patio tomato, one yellow pear and one cherry tomato. The yellow pear and the cherry were planted out in the sheep tank and the patio tomato in a container out on the patio. The seedlings were all very sad after planting...I sunk them really deep into their new soil ( lower leaves can be stripped off...each little hair on the stem will become a root) I will take photos after they recover from their transplant shock!
Cross that project off our list.
Wednesday was a quiet day with a long nap for me.
Minnesota weather; High 68 F or 20 C Low 48 F or 9C eh.
We had over easy eggs for lunch and spaghetti for supper.
Far Side
Minnesota weather sounds like West Virginia weather, up and down and no sense to it. It was 24 at my friend's home last week, and colder in some higher elevations.
ReplyDeleteI love those yellow pear tomatoes! Best flavor ever, I think, for the mini maters.
We took are putting the garden in, but in a larger scale. I don't know how many more years I'll do such canning, and preserving, but this year it's happening. Your weather sounds fantastic.
ReplyDeleteOne project at a time. That's how live goes.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking we are done with frosts now also!
It is supposed to warm up towards the weekend. Yuck.
I'm sure they will be fine soon. Fingers crossed all goes well for FG with his Thursday infusion.
ReplyDeleteI fear our garden plants are not going to make it this year. Too much cold weather. They are still alive, but they appear to be struggling.
ReplyDeleteI miss gardening but I can't eat most of it. Your tomato plants will perk up in no time!
ReplyDeletePicturing you standing in your window blowing on tomato plants gave me a much welcomed little chuckle, Connie. Thank you for that, my friend. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the cold weather is over with for good. I'm always amazed how large your tomato plants get in the trough.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I have heard of someone blowing on seedlings to prepare them for wind but it makes sense now that you have mentioned it. It helps strengthen the stem like exercise strengthens muscles?
ReplyDeleteWe did 'easy' food yesterday. Baked potato for me. Sweet Potato for Bill. Cucumber salad (again, cuz we love it) with Vidalia onions. Springer Mountain (frozen) chicken wings - for Bill. If you don't like chicken skin - yuck to me - - the wing isn't worth it for the work it takes to get the tiny bit of meat. Each to his own.
I'm guessing you will have some very well grown tomatoes. Keep us updated on the tomatoes they produce. Sad to say, No garden of any kind here! Sam just can't this year and I load is to big.
ReplyDeleteI need to get to the nursery to buy my plants. I think we are also past a frost risk.
ReplyDeleteI love easy over eggs. Cool here too. I’m trying to not complain. It’ll be very warm soon.
ReplyDeleteI haven't got garden planted yet. It's been too wet and other poor weather. My tomatoes are ready to plant
ReplyDeleteLittle projects take a lot more time and effort than they used to.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got your tomatoes planted. I bet they'll do great! Hope all is well with you and far guy.
ReplyDeleteFinally you are free of frost warnings ( fingers crossed).
