Project Replacements

When I am crocheting on any certain project I am always thinking ahead..possibly that leads to yarn hoarding...ya think?

Last week I finished this shawl.  It is crochet.

I like the pattern and it is simple enough to do while watching tv or traveling in the car or sitting someplace waiting.   It was in one of my project carrying bags all Winter.  It has been so long I am not sure what the yarn is called anymore.

I started another one right after this one was finished...hence the immediate replacement...but from the stash.   I have a few more choices up there in the stash for this project...maybe more...maybe yarn replicates itself.

This is Sheepjes Wanderlust in the Bangkok colorway.  I had two skeins of it stashed away for the past couple of years.  It is an acrylic yarn so a good one that can be washed, dried gently and blocked out to completely dry.

I am curious to know if you rotate through favorite projects like I do?  My rotation is two different shawl patterns, baby blanket, scrubbies, small crochet bags and a mosaic crochet pattern for a larger afghan.  Oh and then a few projects..scarfs, baby hats and booties...but I am not CDO enough to want to replace them immediately.

Right now I am trying to get this shawl completed so I can wash it and block it.  I have about 4 or 5 more skeins of this yarn for replacement...maybe more...it is a lacy shawl...it has been a while since I have worked on it also...so long in fact that I struggled with part of the pattern and a certain stitch...finally just relaxed and let my fingers do their thing instead of my brain...and my fingers recalled before my brain...amazing huh?  I have made many of these lacy shawls and given most of them away.   One this same color was given to Far Guy's sister when she was going through breast cancer chemotherapy...she loved it.

Another unseasonably warm day yesterday in Minnesota.  The high was 81 F or 28 C eh!  I worked outside on projects all morning and then came inside to have lunch, rest and crochet.   Supper was BLT's and raspberries.

  3. The shawl is beautiful so I totally understand why it's a pattern you return to. You know that I also have Go To patterns in quilting. And of course I have a big stash of fabric to shop from.

  4. OH wow....Y'all were actually warmer than we were yesterday..the last couple of days, we have been in the 70's. As always, your work is beautiful...you are super talented..

  5. That shawl is absolutely beautiful. I love the blue yarn. I only like doing the simple patterns. The one I’m doing now I have to think. I just want to crochet and not count all the time. I like having more than one thing going. I have made dish rags for a girl from my hometown. She tried and said she couldn’t figure it out. I made her a scrubby too. Will that pretty Bangkok yarn be enough to make a shawl?

  7. Your shawls are so lovely! I've never actually worn one, but always admire the look. Perhaps that's a future project.
I tend to work on small projects, mittens, dish cloths, etc. and switch between knitting and crocheting, as my hands ache if I do too much of one or the other. Like you, I have had times where my hands led the way, with better recall than my brain.

  8. I don't crochet or knit, and while I do sew, I spread out all of my quilt square scraps to do a little sewing this winter and then I never did. I guess I'll put it all away again until next winter.

  11. BLTs and raspberries sounds wonderful. And send some of that 80 degrees over here!

  12. Your projects are always so pretty. I only do a few simple ones (dishcloths, scrubbies & hats) so I just keep one of each going at a time, no rotation. The hat is on a loom, the dishcloth is on needles and the scrubby is on the crochet hook.

  14. Love that color blue. I loved your scrubbies from years ago! Even my husband mentioned how nice they were and yes he does a lot of dishes too!

  16. Nice projects. At one point, I had a place that was asking for shawls, but have since then lost the information. I don't have many projects going on right now, but I do rotate them as needed. As garden season rolls in, I have much less time to read and crochet, but try to keep both going. Love the colors of the shawl.

  18. Rotating projects makes perfect sense to me--lol! :)
They are all pretty. The lacey one looks difficult to do--wow!
I just love the colors in that Wanderlust yarn the best!
    Enjoy another beautiful day! :)

  19. Rotating projects makes sense. I think I concentrate on different projects depending on the outside weather more than doing useful things like you do!
I just mess around with photography.

  20. What a gorgeous shawl and that Wanderlust yarn is so pretty. I usually have 1 project going of each craft. It's so strange that you are warmer than we are! We have not hit the 80's at all yet.
