I hope that something brings a smile to your face today!
The May Baskets are finished. I made 20 this year. The racoons are filled with candy... the baskets themselves are made out of paper...the pattern requires 17 pieces to be glued together. I like playing with paper almost as much as I like playing with yarn. All the paper for this project came from the stash in my desk:)
I put a bit of tissue paper in them for a pop of color!
And they are in a cake pan ready for deliveries! (When I was growing up we always put our homemade baskets in a cake pan or muffin tin to make deliveries easier...my baby brother and I would hold them in the car). Let the smiles commence:)
If you took a May Basket to a friend...young or old..tell me about it!
Far Side
Sadly, no May baskets either sent or delivered. I love your raccoon basket.
ReplyDeleteThose raccoons are super adorable! Yes - - they make a Tennessee person smile when she sees them!
ReplyDeleteThey are so cute. No May baskets here. I’m glad you are keeping this tradition going!
ReplyDeleteMay baskets are not a tradition I grew up with. You put a lot of effort into these.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to find out why we don't celebrate May Day here.
ReplyDeleteYou are soooooooooooo clever! I admire your talents
ReplyDeleteBrings back memories, though our May 1 baskets were not nearly as interesting as yours. We usually just picked some flowers and put them in a basket and hung that on the door knob of a neighbor. I'm sure by the time she saw them the flowers were very wilted. We were probably under the age of 10. But interestingly today, when I realized it was May 1 I thought of those days and smiled. You are carrying on the tradition!
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute! We've never celebrated May Day, but seeing those I might just have to start!
ReplyDeleteI hope your friends and family appreciate the effort you go to! Happy May Day.
ReplyDeleteThose are so cute!
ReplyDeleteOh those are cute! Do you remember the books called "Things to Make and do"? they had instructions for May baskets in them, we used to make those as kids and hang them in a tree; mom and dad would fill them with candy during the night. Fun!
ReplyDeleteI've never done May Baskets. I do remember one teacher in grade school who had us make May baskets and even set up a May pole somehow in the playground so we could weave crepe paper around it. I can't remember but I think we had to sing a song while we did the weaving dance. But she was it. You would have liked her. :) The raccoon baskets are really cute and the colored tissue paper really jazzed them up!
ReplyDeleteHappy May day.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! We started with a bit of rain, greatly appreciated, and then the sun has come out. Definitely a good May 1st here.
ReplyDeleteNo more may baskets but I always remember how much fun it was making and delivering them to the neighbors! Just wish we had of carried on such a fun tradition for our kids and grands!
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of May baskets till I was a grown up!! Your fox baskets are super cute!!
ReplyDeleteThis did bring a smile 😃 to my face. Really cute.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely you and your May Baskets brought me a smile. I love that you do this.
ReplyDeleteAdorable raccoon May baskets. I hope you had a good day.

ReplyDeleteThose raccoons are just adorable!!! I know everyone appreciates them!
ReplyDeleteI loved making and delivering May baskets as a kid. I did prep one today for a May basket exchange at guild on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteAdorable raccoon May baskets. You are so creative.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tradition!
ReplyDeleteThey are cute baskets, I have only heard of May Day on TV shows and no nothing about it
ReplyDeleteThose baskets are so cute, even though I am not a fan of living raccoons! I haven't heard of a May Day basket tradition. I bet the recipients were thrilled.
