Seems like everyplace we look lately there is a project to be done.
Last winter we talked about a different place for our carvings…they were here and there and everywhere. Our good friend from Oklahoma City had a design in mind for some shelves next to the fireplace. He made them and brought them by a few weeks ago! He is a sweetheart!! I sealed them and then they became a rainy day project. Our fireplace has two heavy duty timbers on both sides of the fireplace.
All the carvings were cleaned…I use a small dry paintbrush on most of them.
There was one carving that just wouldn’t fit…and I have two other carvings a Trillium and a Loon that are elsewhere in the house.
Yes that fireplace surround is a one of a kind. We went to Menards and picked out three different colors of tile and smashed them with a hammer and it took me three weeks to put the pieces in place. Then the whole thing was grouted and sealed. The gas fireplace is our backup heat source if the electricity goes out.
One more wall in the house was spring housecleaned!
Love it! It looks great.
Those carvings are amazing! The shelves fit perfectly too!
Wow,my hat looks gorgeous! What a great idea.
Beautiful! I'm so glad you explained the fireplace surround. I was wondering if that was all hand-done, but I couldn't imagine it. Wowee! That is amazing. And gorgeous!
The shelves really compliment you fireplace. That was a great idea for a place to display all you carvings.
Wow! What a neat idea- both the shelves and the incredibly creative fireplace surround!
Oh so beautiful both the shelves & carvings!
The perfect solution. The shelves look like they were in the original design of your house.
Looks great! What a showstopper.
Now that is so cool! A perfect place for you to display your carvings, and very pleasing to the eye. :-)
More amazing talent. I knew about the carvings but that fireplace is just WoW!
It really is a perfect place to display great artworks. People get to appreciate them when they are on display.
I really like the shelves. Your carvings are amazing! Having just done the flower pot I can see why the tile work took 3 weeks. It is really nice. Hmmmm.... I was thinking we needed a tile accent wall in our guest bath...
That looks Awesome! That Oklahoma friend did a wonderful job to help display those gorgeous pieces!
A nice simple design, lovely. And your carvings are amazing!
You're brilliant to use the tile in this way for the fireplace face!!
WOW! Everything goes together perfectly!! Wonderful!
Looks like it has been there for years. Matches perfectly with the mantle.
Maybe you could put some more across the mantle?
Beautiful fireplace! I really like the carvings shelves on the sides! This is definitely a showcase in your home!
I love it! I bet it is nice for you to have most of your carvings together now. Of course your carvings are amazing but that surround is very cool too!
The new shelves look great. I can well imagine it would take 3 weeks to arrange all those pieces of tile into such a large area. You sure aren't afraid of tackling any project.
The tile work is beautiful and the new shelves and carvings displays are nice additions.
Yes I had many up there. They show up better on the wood background:)
What a great display and what a great friend to make them for you!
Oh I really like how your carvings stand out against the wood. It's so pretty, and a perfect place for the carvings.
That is really neat. I like the fireplace as well. Great talent you two have. cousin VL
