This is a photo taken right around 1920. It is Far Guys Mom, Evelyn and her wild brother, Willard. She seems to have control of him in this photo. Recently he shared this story with me.
" I was pretty spoiled, and I had a mind of my own. When I was supposed to come into the house when my Mother called for me, I would take off running into the fields. My Mother would send Evelyn after me, she would catch me and then sit on top of me and hold me down until my Mother got there, then I would get hauled off to the house, I got a whipping too..unless my Grandma Abbott was there, there wasn't a person around that could lay a hand on me if she was around." :)
That is too cute!
So Cute, yes she does seem to have him under control, lol
So did Little Miss Evelyn grow up to be in law enforcement? Sounds like she was the one to call on to round up the strays! Heeehehehe! That pic is just adoriable.
You have a terrific day sweetie!!!
Wild Willard had the look of a little mischief maker with that sly smile - so cute though. Good thing Evelyn was around to corral him.
Cute story. I love old photos.
I do enjoy your blog, takes me back, too.
Willard is a doll, and Evelyn surely had her hands full being big sister and resident "Willard Catcher". Love the Grandma Abbott twist, wWonder if my "boys" will say that about their Lanny when they get old. I don't say much, but I get a feelin' that when I'm around the discipline is a bit different - hmmm.
Something so real about the expressions, the pose and even the way the picture is framed.
Her hand is grabbing onto his strap!! :)
And what did Willard grow up to be....
Willard was an electrician..he was 93 years old this spring:)
today he would be prescribed Ritalin . ha ha.
My mother's name was Evelyn. My granddaughter is Evelyn.
Great picture and memory of "Wild Will". Sometimes don't you wish you could hear everybody's story? :)
Is he still a stinker at 93? Just wondering - some people never change :)
