Happy Father's Day!
This is the card that I made for my Dad for Fathers Day, the photo was taken on June 06, 1953. Dad was off to be the best man at his brothers wedding. He took time for me and a photo by the picture tree.
"A man's children and his garden both reflect the amount of weeding done during the growing season". -- Unknown
My Father was gone every year from early spring to late fall, he was home only on weekends. The construction jobs he worked on were usually hours away. I was a very difficult child, strong willed and opinionated, always challenging, always asking why and why not, always trying to find a way around the rules..there was much weeding for him to do on the weekends:)

That is such a precious picture Connie. Thank you for sharing with all of us.
ReplyDeleteMade me smile you thinking of yourself as a difficult child. You turned out real good. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet picture. You were a real cutie. I was one of those children that needed a lot of weeding too - still do to this day. I am still opinionated and strong willed. Some things just can't be weeded out.
ReplyDeleteSo he was a weekend warrior eh? Taking on a short blond Attila? Amazing how much dads can get done in a few short hours isn't it?
ReplyDeleteDad was a construction worker too. "Just wait til your father gets home" echoed through out our weeks.
ReplyDeleteI love the card. Good dads are amazing in the work they sometimes have to do to provide for our families.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet and poignant photo of you w/ your father! Glad to know I wasn't the only difficult child.... :-)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby leaves on Monday morning and doesn't get home until Friday night, and he sure has the same kind of weeding to do! Love this post!!
ReplyDeleteWell he did a good job! Happy Father's Day to Far Guy. I hope he is feeling better.
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Emma Rose
Great photo! You sound just like me as a kid... I think we turned out OK, don't you?
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe you were a difficult child, willful and opinionated (tongue firmly in cheek here). Happy Father's Day to all dads and all who love them!
ReplyDeleteHowever he weeded, it turned out very well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card, and a wonderful quote.
Jen
