Through the rat hole

Ever feel like you have been drug through a rat hole?  Hit by a Mack truck?  Like maybe it would just be easier to go lay down in front of the funeral home or your plot at the cemetery?

That is how Far Guy and I feel after the Covid booster that we got on Monday afternoon.  We both started feeling rotten with  a fever, aches and pains about 12 hours after the injection.  I felt like I had been shot. I would have welcomed death with open arms.   Needless to say neither of us slept much.

We had a quiet day at home yesterday with numerous naps. We hope by today we are feeling much better.

Two down and one more vaccination to go.  (RSV)  Far Guy had  RSV one time....he was horribly ill so if a vaccination will prevent it that is a good thing...he was hospitalized for about four days in one hospital sent home and then hospitalized another four days in a different hospital....because I refused to take him back to the first hospital when they obviously didn't know what they were doing.

T

We are tuckered out and had our fill of turkey for quite a long time.

We had a quiet day Saturday we went to recycle and then dropped by the neighbors for coffee.   Older folks talk about their health ...they have cataract surgery and a possible back surgery happening in the next month or so.   Thankfully Far Guy and I have no surgery coming up.  I am tired...and Far Guy is short of breath...same old same old health complaints.   They filled us in on a mutual friend struggling with dementia...so sad.   So it could be worse.

My baby brothers bride shared her photo of the Thursday turkey.

Busy Thursday

My Dad and I were total losers at Bingo, but we still had a good time

Had a weird thing happen in the morning...still cannot figure it out.  My phone rang while I was at my parents...It asked if I wanted to join the Facetime phone call between my brothers, sister and myself...so I joined...  who knew that four or maybe even more people could see each other and all talk.  My other baby brother said his phone rang and he got the same message as I did...and my baby brothers wife said the same thing.  She answered my brothers phone...he was in surgery getting a new knee.    No one knows who initiated the call???  I didn't even know how to hang up...my other baby brother was laughing because he didn't know how to hang up either.  Eventually I think everyone hung up on me.

Anyways my baby brother has another new knee...he was up and walking last night and should get out of the hospital today if all goes well.

I shoveled snow over at my parents...it snowed in town just enough to make things slippery.   Far Guy was delayed at the infusion center so I managed to squeeze in a visit to the yarn shop.  Yarn may have been purchased.

We are done with appointments for the week! I went in for my blood draw after dropping off Far Guy at Pulmonary Therapy.  Later in the day my blood work came back and I am normal...even my cholesterol...how about that!
Pretty roses at the grocery store.

Tulips, a tree and other stuff

I managed to have my yearly physical.  I passed.  Had some skin tags removed and got a Tetanus Booster.  She wants fasting blood work so I will do that later in the week.  She wants me to monitor my blood pressure closely...so Far Guy has a job again.  They are still short of the Shingrix Vaccine...so I am on the waiting list.

Far Guy went to Pulmonary Therapy while I ran errands and crocheted in the car.

We went to the grocery store together.  We split up the list and shopping goes much faster...except when he stops to visit!

Spring is at the grocery store.   Every week I pick out which bouquet I would buy if I could have flowers in the house.  This week it was the tulips...hands down especially those yellow ones!

Found this photo on my phone...one night Far Guy and I sat on Main Street together and took a photo of the Christmas Tree in the middle of the street.  It has been removed now....it takes up a number of parking spots.

Today and tomorrow we get to stay at home.  We appreciate the days that do not have appointments.  We could be hermits.

Hopeful

We are hopeful that Far Guy will be considered for a Lung Transplant.  This week he is having many and I mean MANY X-rays and various medical tests.  He has a week full of appointments, sometimes eight hours a day.  Just like a job.  I have a notebook to take notes.

We have results from his urine testing he tests positive for a medication he takes for Trigeminal Neuralgia.  But then the real shocker he tests positive for coffee and chocolate...who knew.  They test you for everything and I mean everything...blood and urine tests do not lie.

His Colonoscopy results are polyps that were removed, not cancerous now but Adenomas are considered pre cancerous... so he has to have another Colonoscopy in three years.  He had the four day prep...no fun but it was all accomplished.  He cannot do a traditional prep because he cannot drink the volume of fluids involved...he just vomits.

I will try to keep you updated here through the blog on our adventures this week.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers out there.  We took my Dad to lunch one day last week.

I worked in the yard before it rained.  The squirrels have been having fun with the flowers and a bunny has been by for snacks.
