Biopsies

 Plural...yes more than one.

Far Guy had to go to surgery on Monday to do a biopsy on the glands in his neck.   He did fine and preliminary results are good, next week the complete biopsy report should be back.  Our hope is that everything is benign.  He has a very sore throat from all the tubes and scopes they put down his throat. He also has a wound on his arm where the Charge Nurse who was called in to do his IV ...put such awful tape to secure his IV that when it was pulled off it took off his skin so now he has a very sore wound too.  I would show you a photo but it is awful looking.

We both got to visit with Grandson Noah and I got to see Granddaughter Maddie while Far Guy was in surgery.  Jen made a wonderful meal for us on Monday night...pulled pork, eggs and potatoes topped with cheese.

Tuesday on the way home we both saw our Dermatologist.  Far Guy got the all clear and I had two biopsies; one on my forehead and one on my arm the results take about ten days. I also had two other spots taken care of one on my chin and one on my ear...cauterized and frozen for those.

We are back home in the woods again.

We miss this dog.

She got a good amount of attention from us while we were there.

Today is our day off.  Then Thursday and Friday three more appointments locally.  Far Guy says he is tired of Doctors.

Minnesota weather: High 74F or 24C Low was 50F or 10C they say it was real foggy in the morning...however I did not get up that early on Tuesday. Nice Fall weather and some of the trees are showing some color especially the Fall Gold Ash trees and the Maples.

  2. My guy had his bone marrow biopsy yesterday and we are both glad it is behind us for now. They are no fun, but having your skin ripped off is uncalled for, I'd say!

  3. Gosh I sure hope you get a break from all of your appointments.

  4. I can't imagine going for a day of appointments and arriving home with less flesh than I started with. My day is probably coming though.

  5. I don't blame Far Guy for not wanting to see any more doctors...it's a full time job! At least you got to see your family and have a great meal plus...there's Sadie...what a cutie. Glad you got home safe and sound and that you have a "day off"! LOL! Stay well.

  6. I read your comments about Far Guy's arm wound to my hubby. He and I both send him best wishes for quick healing. WHY oh why do nurses and medical staff do this??? My hubby has been there multiple times. We've begged them to be careful with his thin, old person skin but they don't seem to care. It made both of us very angry to hear this is such a universal thing.

  7. I know what you mean about being tired of doctors' appointments. Sometimes they seem to be our whole social life. Glad you have today off. Glad Far Guy had some good news.

  8. Hoping that the results for both of you will be clear. I can only imagine how tired you both are of visits to doctors. I do hope the wound heals quickly.
The upside is having a chance to visit with family (including Sadie). Take care!

  9. The first thought that jumped into my head was the medical profession had people working overtime to get their scalpels sharpened for your appointments! Praying you do have great results from everything they test.
We canNOT do the regular adhesive either. Bill almost had to have skin grafting after one thing that was done. He has a scar from it. There are silicone bandages available. I asked about them regarding my adhesive tape over the eye guard after cataract surgery. A nurse said that kind of tape was expensive and not stocked.
When I got home - - I bought boxes of silicone band-aids and used them at night. My skin - - and other body organs - - are worth whatever money is used to keep them healthy.
It is more difficult to make them stick - - - - but with an IV, a person could put a thin gauze bandage around the arm on top of silicone to secure it better. FG is NOT the only person with sensitive and thinner skin.
Super glad for Sadie and you all to have a very nice visit. Good-byes are hard though.

  12. Praying for good news!
The washi tape companies should start making bandages.
Glad you have a day off. Sick of doctors is probably a polite way of putting it.

  13. I'm always surprised at the lack of caring from those that should be 'care'givers. GRRRR. I can understand being tired of Dr Offices and personal. I'll bet Sadie misses you also

  14. You're probably both tired of doctors by now. Hope ALL results come back clean. I had a spot on my arm frozen this summer, and it appears to have healed nicely. As a member of that "baby oil sun tanning" generation it sure wouldn't surprise me to develop skin cancer, but at least this spot was not. Surgical tape and old people skin isn't a good mix. You would think the nurse would realize that.

  15. Fingers crossed biopsies come back negative. As if FG hadn't had enough, having his skin pulled off was not acceptable.

  19. Too much poking and prodding and trimming for you two. You both need a break, Hopefully the test results will allow that.

  20. My sympathy to Far Guy. I had stickers on me for the final 5 radiation treatments. When the stickers came off so did my skin. It was horrible. I know what he's going through
