The tomatoes are surviving!
The Patio tomato.
The Yellow Pear and the Cherry tomatoes in the sheep tank. The old dog kennel works great to keep the deer out!
Far Guy will put some tomato cages up and wires for support soon before they get too tall. They are standing nice and tall and not flopped over anymore:)
Thursday we had a nice visit and supper with Jen, Maddie, Benton, Hey Mikey, Cee Cee, Peach and Sadie. We had pizza and breadsticks...those kids all like Ranch with their pizza.
Minnesota weather High : 81 F or 28 C Low 56 C or 14 C eh.
Far Guy had his infusion on Friday this week. I picked up groceries and went to the bank. I finally made it through round one of lawn mowing. We are supposed to get heavy wildfire smoke this weekend. Supper was Chicken Salad sandwiches and raspberries. Clean up was easy!
Far Side
The tomato plants look great. Your weather looks great too. We are having a cold weather weekend again.
ReplyDeleteYour tomatoes are going to do beautifully, Connie. They look wonderful even now. I wanted a couple tomato plants this year but alas, that never came to fruition. Oh well, maybe next year. I've heard of a lot of people enjoying ranch dressing with their pizza. No one in our family does but I've definitely heard of others doing it. ~Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteI hope the infusion went well. That weather sounds a bit on the hot side.
ReplyDeleteHow fun to have pizza with all those kiddos - the little ones and the grown up ones. I didn't plant any tomatoes in the pot on my back deck this year. I'll probably regret that come July.
ReplyDeleteI hope the neighbor bears don’t like tomatoes! I love being the younger grands! You learn of the lives they are leading.
ReplyDeleteYour tomatoes look great! So nice to have family visiting you. I too like ranch on my pizza!
ReplyDeleteI can't have raspberries but they are my favorite! The closest I get is seedless raspberry jam. Chicken salad sounds great too. We had a smoke/haze warning. We have no fires here. I can't believe it came all this way but evidently it did. The sun is just barely peeking through.
Our weather guessers keep predicting the smoke to hit us here in E.Ontario, but no sign of it yet. We are suffering through a COLD weekend, but apparently the thermostat will be back up this coming week. (thankfully not dipping to freezing) We've had two days of torrential rain which the tomatoes are hopefully loving. Alternating weather serves them well.
ReplyDeleteI bought three tomato plants yesterday. Everything was expensive. I think I will start seeds next year. Young children are fun to be with.
ReplyDeleteTomatoes can be finicky, glad yours are doing well.
ReplyDeleteTime to stay indoors for a bit, the smoke arrived here yesterday and it is ugly!
The tomato plants look fabulous!!! My friends who live in the country put their gardens in kennels, too - keeps the dang deer away from stopping by for lunch.
ReplyDeleteBeing with little kids are fun!!!
ReplyDeleteyour plants are all looking great. I have once again kept up with the fires and this saddens me that so many acres are burned....I know this makes it difficult for FG and for so many who have lung issues. Prayers that the smoke does not set him back.
ReplyDeleteYou have had a great couple of days! So thankful for you. The tomato plants do look great!
ReplyDeleteI saw about the wildfire smoke and immediately thought of you and FG. I don't want him to get cabin fever but he might need to stay inside for a bit. Why oh why do they get so many wildfires in Canada? Or does it just seem that way?
Yesterday we had the last of the smoked turkey from Thanksgiving that was vacuum sealed in the freezer. It was so delicious. We used the vegetables from the roast chicken to make potato hash (cut up leftover veggies on a cookie sheet in the oven) topped with a bit of Italian cheese. We eat that side dish 2-3 times a month.
A person could follow your blog and have their menu made up for them.
ReplyDeleteI have seen several sites on facebook that say to plant tomatoes on their side. I have never tried it.
ReplyDeleteChicken salad sandwiches are my favorite!
Looking good! Ours just got planted yesterday.
ReplyDeleteWere those fresh raspberries I wonder? Local strawberries are available now but they better get cheaper or we won't buy many!
ReplyDeleteFrom Florida :)
DeleteUsing the dog kennel to keep the deer out is such a good idea!
ReplyDeleteI planted yellow pear tomatoes for the first time this year. Fingers crossed that they grow well. We love chicken salad and have it often in summer.
ReplyDeleteInfusion? Oh dear, I missed something. I hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian smoke has made it here. It has turned what should have been a clear, bright day into a hazy one, with a a strange color to the sky---kind of pale, pale blue with gray and yellow tones.
My husband gets infusions weekly to protect his lungs, he has Alpha One Antitrypsin Deficiency
DeleteYour tomato plants look great! I planted more than the usual 2-3 this year, so we will see what happens.
