Quiet Sunday

I think we are enjoying the quiet two nap days too much.

The Oak danglies have turned brown and will soon fall off.   The rain what little we got less than an inch helped to wash down the pollen.  The Oak leaves are getting larger every day soon we will have dense shade.

Mowing will be on my agenda this week.

I will leave the dandys in the side yard yet for the bees.

Minnesota weather; the high was 53 F or 12 C  the low was 37 F or  3 C   it was a chilly morning.

We went for a Sunday afternoon drive to our favorite Mexican place it was too cold to sit on the patio but the place wasn't too busy so we sat inside.  Lupper was great as usual.

  2. Raining here and barely warm enough to enjoy the outdoors. But I manage, and I am glad you two were able to get out for Lupper.

  3. Those oak dangling things all fell off down here and got hung up on the edges of anyplace paved and next to grass like our sidewalk, driveway and road out front. I mowed all those areas last night and the pollen was so dense in the air I had to pause and wait to even see and to get another deep breath before holding it again and mowing another 20 feet. I thanked my lucky stars that I just had a runny nose for ten minutes or so when I got back inside and don't have any bad allergies.

  4. Sunday afternoon drives - and Lupper! I think that is a Minnesota tradition. My folks did that weekly when I was growing up. Early in our marriage, Sunday afternoon drives meant checking cattle in the further pastures. Very relaxing!! Maybe it's something to start doing again.

I need some sunshine here! Dave mowed yesterday afternoon - while it was dry enough. By bedtime it was drizzling again. Grey, windy, and cold here this morning. At least the rain has washed pollen out of the air. And we need the rain.

  6. We got rain a couple of days ago. It's supposed to rain later this afternoon. We'll see. Mexican food sounds good. I did bread some flounder with panko a few days ago. You reminded me that I like breaded fish!

  7. We enjoy eating in almost empty restaurants, too. I know people tell us they can never get a table, but if you go between 2 and 4, you almost have the place to yourself. Old people hours!

  8. We still have some of the oak things to blow off the roof. The white fuzzy pollen is very light at this time which means it is the end of pollen season for a while - - hopefully.
Regarding the naps, we do what is necessary to maintain our health. I am not always pleased that things like the weather or not sleeping well the night before dictate my schedule but we generally function much better after a nap of any length. It has taken me years to accept my limitations and some days I still get "not happy" about them but what can you do? I am not ready to give up yet.

  9. We had similar temps yesterday, so I did get out to do a bit of weeding in the garden. Today is cooler, with rain and more forecast for tomorrow. I want the sun!
Where you mentioned mowing, I read moving, and had to read it twice. :)

  11. We have had some rain and I hope it lessens the pollen here. I am still dealing with runny nose and runny and burning eyes.
We spent most of our Sunday working in the yard. Today is house cleaning and laundry day and this evening we are leaving for two days on Whidbey Island.
I'm glad you are taking it slow. Stay well!

  12. Rain, thunderstorms and hail here yesterday- fortunately for the farmers, the crops were waiting for that rain to emerge, so no hail damage. I would like some sunshine though!

  13. It was cold here yesterday and today too. We had bad thunderstorms all night and more are predicted today. They just issued a tornado watch until 9:00. The thunder was so loud last night that neither of us slept much. I fell asleep in my recliner for about an hour a little bit ago while listening to the rain on the balcony.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  16. Hard to believe it was just in the 80s and 90s. Much better mowing weather now though. If it isn't drizzling out. We've had that for a couple of days now. We need the rain, though! Glad to have the drizzle. :)
