Just one more thing

The SD card slots on both of our Macs quit...must be a glitch or an update where they forgot about all the people that still use SD cards in their cameras...are we a dying breed or what?  I fiddled with it and swore a bit...nasty word...nasty word.  Researched the problem and ended up ordering a thingy.

What is one more wirey thing to hook up anyway...and it works...it transfers my SD card images flawlessly for now to the C slot in the back of my Mac.  Kinda the pits that it has a short cord as my computer has to be moved to put the SD card in.  Oh well.

In other news.  Far Guy has relapsed a bit and he gave the crud to me.  I am on antibiotics and a steroid.  Both meds help with my Lymes Arthritis so I have less pain some of the time.

This weeks meals:

Scalloped potatoes and ham, pulled pork and salad (Thanks Andy and Jen), omlettes with ham and cheese, pizza from Pizza Hut, a new to us chicken hotdish and one fend for your self night, last night was chili and grilled cheese.

Company last week: My Other baby brother, my baby brother and his bride with Baxter and Smudge.   Last week Saturday we saw Jordan and Paige and Cole.  Paige helped with Spring House cleaning so I might have a handle on the house cleaning for now.  Cole helped with projects outside...we are very thankful for their help. I still have more drawers, cabinets and cupboards to clean out...a purge. And beds upstairs to wash up and windows to wash.  Enough to keep me busy when I feel better.

The grass is turning greener every day after our rain.

And then I broke my toe...stubbed it so hard on an old trunk when I was barefoot that my toes cracked. Clumsy.  It is very sore...no need to go to the Doctor as they would just splint it to the next toe or three.
I do my own pedicures obviously I could do better.

  4. I had to search high and low for a computer with an actual SD slot. I found one, but I too have a couple of those thingies that you plug into your computer.

  6. Glad you figured out how to get the camera card to work!
So sorry to hear that you and FarGuy have the crud. Hope it doesn't last long and you feel better soon. And then on top of that you broke your toe!! Glad you have had some help come by, though. I always have a long list of projects for when I feel better, too. :)
It has definitely gotten very green with the warm weather and a little bit of rain.

  11. Ouch, I've broken a toe or two over the years and it is very uncomfortable, especially if you have to wear shoes. Nice to be able to be outside barefoot though. :)
I hope both you and Far Guy recover from the crud soon. You have some lovely grands to help with the housecleaning and outdoor chores. If they lived closer, I'd ask if you'd hire them out.

  12. Ouch - I have a toe that looks similar to yours right now - though I don't think mine actually broke. I hit it on the door jam coming in from the porch - don't ask me how - I'm a master of hurting myself in near impossible ways!

  14. Ohhhhh....I feel the pain just from the photo. Goodness, I know that hurt big time and will for a bit. The crud is no fun and I am so sorry you now have it. Prayers for both you and FG. What a sweet blessing to have your grands help you. There is a lot of good in young people that the world fails to see. Happy Sunday afternoon.

  15. I no longer go barefoot for that very reason! LOL! As a child I broke my toes and then in college I was in gymnastics (again barefoot) and broke my big toe....ouch.
How was the new chicken hot dish? I'm always looking for chicken recipes. I;m going to try Chicken marsala as I've heard that is good.
So sorry you guys are under the weather. You do a good job on your pedicure. I don't k now about you but it's getting harder and harder to reach down there! So glad you have family to help. I just hired a new cleaning gal but I am doing more myself that doesn't involve too much bending over or getting down on the floor.
Microsoft did the same thing and I couldn't download photos but then my grandson showed me how to take pictures with my phone and those I can download directly to my pc. Crazy!

    1. Hi Sam,
Cook chicken, shred about 4 cups,
one can cream of chicken soup
      1 cup chicken broth
      1/2 cup sour cream
Salt, pepper and other spices you like...garlic or onion
One package of stove top stuffing
Mix well bake in greased hot dish pan 9 X 13
350 degrees for 30 minutes covered then 15 minutes uncovered.
It was a good hotdish...It makes six large servings so we froze some and hope that works out ok.

  17. Oh ... OUCH! Last time I did something like that I taped the good toes to the bad toes and it helped. However that may not be the case for you.
    Oh no to the crud.
    The grands are the best.

  18. I haven't used my big old Nikon in a long time, but I think I can still use SD cards. My iPhone downloads automatically to my computer iCloud.
Sounds like you need to take it easy this week and save that housework for when you aren't broken or sick. :-(

  19. The plug thing I got for my sd cards looks like a thumb drive. No wired thingies. Oh boy, you have my sympathy with that broken toe. I stubbed, and broke, my big toe five years ago. It still gives me grief on occasion. It affected my gait for the longest while and footwear was very uncomfortable. It's hard to be barefoot in the middle of December.

  20. Sorry you are not feeling well plus you broke your toe. Maybe this will be a week for you to put that poor foot up and take it easy. Good to have some help from the grands!

  21. Poor you! I did exactly the same thing to my left foot about a month ago. It was two weeks before I could even wear my slippers. And it’s still not right. It seems as though damaging toes is quite common in these parts.

  22. My foot hurts for you! You definitely did a bang-up job judging by the color.
Sorry you are both under the weather - - but I read tomorrow's blog and you got a bit better. Hooray.
You are both very smart with computers - - - more than many of us.
We had a comfort food dish from my childhood when Mom was always trying to make economical dishes to stretch the budget money. We ate a lot of potatoes and often would cook extra when we boiled them. One of the ways we used those left-overs was to fry them in a skillet with a bit of butter and a small bit of oil. You could add onions if you want. After the potatoes get heated and crisp a little bit, add slices of hot dogs and fry a bit longer. the flavor combination is delicious to me. I buy the Oscar Meyer Natural Turkey dogs with no additives - - all natural ingredients. Anyway - - it's one of our favorite dishes. THANKS again for your suggestions! I needed my brain to jumpstart on menus for the week.

  23. I shuddered when I saw your toe because I've been there and it's so painful. You're so lucky to have help from family especially when you're not feeling well!

  24. Ouch! Your meals all sound good to me. Sorry you are both unwell, hoping you're better soon.
