Cemetery, pain and cards

Saturday I took some red silk poinsettias to the cemetery where my parents are buried.  It was a nice day about 40 F or 5 C and the snow was melting fast.  I had been wanting to get there before it snowed...I didn't make that deadline...but finally got er done!

The flowers look nice against the snow.  I am glad that the headstone has vases on each side...it makes flower taking easier.  Needless to say we were the only people there...but a bunch of Wild Turkeys were in the area.

Not much snow for this time of year.  Even less now as it began to rain early Sunday morning...it will be a skating rink out there with the dreaded black ice.  36 F or 3 C was our high yesterday with those rain showers.

Pain Report: Small improvement...not enough to cheer about...yet.

Christmas card report: 14 added to the previous 65 makes 79 total...I am making progress.  A rainy day helped and I skipped my nap.

  1. I have yet to get flowers for my parents graves. You are making great progress on the cards. we don't even get cards anymore, but I do have two boxes from our Christmas stash I need to use.

  2. My mother-in-law did this yesterday too. She likes to go and place the flowers and "visit."

  3. Tell us how to pronounce your surname. The flowers are perfect for the season.

  4. The headstone looks very nice, and the poinsettias certainly provide a lovely bit of colour.
Sorry, to hear about the freezing rain - we missed that, just got a lot more snow.

  5. The poinsettias look lovely there. We had about that much snow but now it's almost all gone. It started raining over night and is set to rain all day. Hopefully the snow will return for Christmas

  6. The pop of red does look lovely against the snow. I'm sure it's getting difficult to be optimistic about that pain relief.

  7. Some pain improvement is a start. Let's hope it continues. The flowers look lovely against the background of snow. Thanks for the name pronunciation!

  8. I don't like rain at this time of year as it makes things icy until spring.

  9. I love to visit cemeteries and pray for the souls resting there. I usually go on All Souls Day and wander through, reading the gravestones. My parents (and other family and ancestors) graves are about 9 hours away, so I rarely get to visit them, but I pray for their souls regularly.
I hope your current treatment is effective and that the Back on Track blanket gives you comfort .

  10. You're buzzing right along with those cards now, but doen't push yourself. Your parents headstone is beautiful. The cemetery where we'll be buried and our parents and other family is at requires the flat headstones only. I don't think they are nearly as pretty.
It was warm Sat & Sun and today is a bit cooler but still in the 40's. Tomorrow is supposed to be much cooler but no snow yet. Just a few flurries last Friday that made Baby J very happy.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  11. Lovely splash of red against the snow.
We've lost half of ours already from the warmer days and rain. I don't think we got much rain, but not sure. It was light, anyways, or all the snow would be gone.
May you have a productive day with less pain! :)

  12. Thank you for the reminder....I need to get poinsettias put out at the cemetery for my mom and dad. The red does look pretty against the white snow...Still praying for you and the pain to completely go away..

  13. I miss living close enough to put flowers or evergreen wreaths on my parents graves. It took almost two full weeks to have substantial pain relief after my epidural shot, so be patient.

  14. I need to get Sue to take me to the cemetery to leave my parents Christmas Card there, yes I know it may seem strange but it is what I do and makes me feel happy leaving cards at the grave.

  16. Good report.
We had sunshine today and I finally got out for a mile walk. It was hard, but I made it.

  17. Rain on snow then freezing temperatures make for treacherous driving...or walking!! Be careful when you go outside. GM
