The Orioles were very hungry when they first arrived, One pound of grape jelly and an orange a day were consumed.
Grape Jelly is hard to find, luckily I got the last two bottles in one store and my Mom had a bottle she found in her cupboard. Saturday we had just a couple of Orioles feeding....the others have moved on North....or maybe they fled South...as it has turned a tad chilly...we could freeze the next few nights.
A Scarlet Tananger! Too bright to miss in the woods.
What a beautiful colour that last bird is. Must be incredible seeing that flying past (I should mention that a lot of our birds are very drab, not much colour at all).
Awwww....your birds are lucky to have you, Connie! I'm sure they enjoy your wildlife cafeteria! I had no idea grape jelly was hard to find now. Sheesh!! What's next, eh? ~Andrea xoxo
Wow! Love the tanager!
Our Orioles must be nesting near by. They went nuts on the feeders at first. I can hear them in the trees calling out and twice a day they come down to the oranges and can't seem to figure out how to use the liquid feeder. I'll try and fix that later.
Our forests have gone boom...and everything has leaves and the apple blossoms are falling to the ground!
Grape jelly? I would never have guessed that.
The Orioles were here also, but keeping hidden for the most part. Saw a male yesterday. He didn't eat much jelly.
So pleased to see the birds in the blog today. I hope you and Gene have a beautiful day. I am off on a grand adventure for the next month. Hope to start relearning how to use blogger when I get back. A lot has changed in the last three years.
Aren't they wonderful?!

I love the Orioles. I don't think I've ever seen them here but we do get a nice variety of other birds. Isn't it fun watching them all!
No orioles in our yard but we have two grey catbirds and do they love eating grape jelly and oranges, too. We had a bottle of grape jelly purchased last year and have been using it - now I'm hoping we don't have a shortage here in New York for when we finally run out. Fortunately there are only two of them! Your scarlet tanager is beautiful.
Back in the day when I cleaned houses for extra money, I was cleaning a studio on the second story, and a Scarlet Tananger decided to fight with its image in the window where I was working. I got to see the beautiful thing up close and personal for a while before it moved on. You're blessed to have them hanging about your place.
You have beautiful birds visiting your feeders. I'd be tempted to sit and watch them all the time instead of what I should have been doing.
I can't remember the last time I saw an oriole here.
So odd you have no grape jelly! We have cases and cases here. There was something I went to three stores looking for the other day. I wish I could remember what it was!
I've never seen a Tananger. We used to have Orioles but they haven't been around in a long time. We had a high of 52 today. I heard there are frost warnings further north.
Just love your beautiful birds!!!
I don't think we have orioles here but we had scads of robins and sparrows. I never would have thought of grape jelly.
What a BEAUTIFUL Bird. We have the Western Tananger and it is lovely also,...but not like that!!
I have a smaller version of that Oriole feeder. They sure are hungry birds. Beautiful Tanager!
You do get some beautiful birds!
So lucky! I have only seen one in my entire life. (Back in Michigan... and never again) I wonder if they will ever stop by in Iowa.
You have the prettiest birds up there!
