Years ago when we owned the resort on Straight Lake we had a recreation room it had books to read, games to play, a ping pong table and several pinball machines...it also had a Coke cooler that dispensed cans of pop...until the tourist kids got smart and popped the tops on the can and stuck a straw in and emptied the cans. Our daughters spent lots of time playing ping pong and pin ball. They would challenge their Dad to games of ping pong. Some winters the pin ball machines were moved into the large hallway in the house and Far Guy worked on them....naturally they were played.
Then we sold the resort. Years later one of the owners was looking for some extra money and wanted to know if we were serious about buying one of the machines.
We bought the one called Card Whiz which we then sold to Jen. She and Andy have had it refurbished and repaired and now they have it in their basement.
Far Guy and I play it almost every day. Jen holds the record at 124,000 points..Far Guy at 103,000 and then me at 97,000.
It brings back many memories.
One day I asked Far Guy if he could recall how we used to play pinball at Schmiders? I would play one flipper and he would play the other...nope that memory is gone for him.

I have never played a pinball machine. This was my generation’s video game. I feel like I should have tried it.
I have never been a fan of pinball machines, but I do remember playing them when I was younger. They are fun but I much prefer games that involve words. :-)
How fun to have such a memorable pinball machine to play!! I haven't in many years. Sharing flippers never worked very well for me. As you likely know, pinball has a big following. Complete with competitions, conventions etc.

I like it when I come across old things with good memories. It is an interesting thing about memories. All of us don't remember the same things. Tom and I discovered that, too. But it was especially fun when both of us did remember the same event and would remind one another of them and exactly what happened.
How cool is that?!? Beautiful machine too. I never played pinball machines. I don't remember any at all as a matter of fact. I only remember them later after my kids were getting older and they had them at the malls. Glad you're having fun!
I guess it is a generational thing as I never felt the attraction to playing pinball machines. For me, it was the old Pacman games they used to have in Pizza Hut franchises that hold my earliest memories of playing similar things.

What great memories! And it is okay to forget some things. That happens frequently in our household.
Whew. I would love to have something like this in our house to play with! LOL! I can recall playing this in college and really being bad at it.

How fun that your grandchildren could grow up playing the same pinball machine! Many kids today barely know what they are much less play them. I bet you and Far Guy have enjoyed being able to play it again. I remember well when pinball machines were a big thing. No computer games back then!
Pin ball wizards. It is quite a long time since I have seen a pinball machine. The drug store that had one burned down in 1968, Murray, Iowa.

I have only played pin ball machines a very few times and I wasn't good at them--but they are fascinating. I am also not good with video games, either--LOL! My fingers aren't that fast and I can't seem to coordinate them decently with the screens.
Those are some great memories, plus it sounds like a lot of fun for all of you!
