Our daughter Jen likes buttons…she collects them.
She lost her black winter hat…so I crocheted her a new one while she was here. The button came from the button jar…not sure where it came from or what piece of clothing it came from. Perhaps it is from an old sweater or winter coat.
Here you can see the yarn and the finished product. The yarn is called coffee beenz it is part wool, part acrylic and very soft. I used a single crochet stitch throughout and a crab stitch to finish off the edge.
Here Jen is modeling her new hat…good thing I finished it as it was a chilly Minnesota morning when she, Andy and the Granddogs headed home.
Our house is very quiet again.

ReplyDeleteThat's really a great hat...and how cool you could make it while she was there. I love the button too. I have a button jar....I don't know what I'll ever do with them but I just like them. I think my grandmother also collected buttons.

ReplyDeleteI love that hat, and that it was created right there in front of its owner. I'll bet the place seems quiet now with everyone gone. I wonder where that button came from; it's perfect in its new home. :-)

ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful hat. It looks like it fits her perfectly! What a wonderful thing to do. I have a button tin. Only a few are from me, the rest belonged to my grandma and my mom. I inherited both of their button tins. Sometimes I like just sift through them and remember the different items of clothing that they wore before they snip the buttons off. The buttons were saved and the item of clothing went into the rag bin. Blessings always, Betsy

ReplyDeleteThat yarn is so pretty and the accent button really sets it off. I have never heard of the crab stitch. I'll have to look that one up. I'm sure she truly loved and appreciated it! Glad they came for a visit with the granddogs.
