Yard Happenings

I have been mowing about every four days.  There are several trees that still need their branches trimmed.  I don’t mind so much when I get hit in the shoulder with a branch I have to hold back…but I had a branch that zipped right up the middle of my head and lodged in my pony tail.  I nearly had a head on collision with the BBQ Grill whilst being scalped, I may have said “bad word, bad word”and that branch well… I plucked it out, most of it fell to pieces in my hair…I had to use R and everything to avoid a close encounter with the grill.  I hate using R on the lawn mower, I usually just keep going around in circles and eventually all the lawn will be done.  ( It drives someone who uses R all the time nuts.)

We have a new hose…it is kinda spooky.  It is one of those “pocket hoses” we bought it way last winter thinking it would be easier to lug around and to coil up…it is… so far so good…the spooky part is when you shut off the water it shrinks back down and moves toward the water hydrant… all by itself! Do Do Do Do

Hose

I will wait to make my final opinion on this new hose until it has made the whole summer!

I got new super duper lifting mulching blades on my mower…and was advised to “please lift the blades up when you go across the gravel”  okey dokey.

The yard isn’t always about hoses and lawn mowers…there are flowers too!

Lupines

It seems to have been a good winter for the Lupines!

  1. I have been curious about these hoses - let us know at the end of the summer! The lupines sure are pretty.

  2. My neighbor, who shares a hose with me at our condo, bought a similar hose last summer. Halfway through the summer, it sprang a couple of leaks, and had to be trashed. Apart from that, it seemed a good idea—less space, easily moved around. But yes, it looked weird!

  5. I bought a very sad Lupine at the store yesterday...very dry and neglected and depleted. Brought it home let it soak up water for several hours, then planted it. YAY! It's doing well.!

  6. I bought one of those hoses for the front porch recently. I agree they're spooky. :-)

  7. I bought, and use, one of those hoses. It came with a warning to not leave the hose in the sun after use. I store mine in an old basket near the spigot. I'm guessing the sun & heat rot the elastic in the hose. But they sure are nice to use. Sandy in Calif.

  8. Yes! Leah got me a small wrinkled hose last summer that does strange things when you turn it on and off. I have gotten used to it, but mine is much shorter and wrinklier--LOL! I love mine! :)

  9. Sometimes you have to tune up those lawn mowers so that they don't take you too close top the trees.

  11. It is constant mowing here for Larry. I think he mows or weed whacks something every day. Too much rain this spring.

  12. That was a close call. Good thing you weren't badly hurt.
Lupines are so pretty but I've had so much trouble with them getting full of aphids that I've quit trying to grow them.

  13. That hose kinda looks like a pile of slithering snakes. Ugh. I do hope it serves you well, though. Our lawn mower doesn't have R, but then you don't ride on it either.

  14. Beautiful lupines! Good luck with the hose. I wasn't impressed, but yours looks a little more heavy duty.

  15. I bought one last year for $20.00 and the sun baked it and it fell apart by the end of the summer. This year I bought one twice as expensive $40.00 and we shall see. I may have been twice the fool too! Good luck with yours and when they work they're great!
