Better

I am feeling better...for an old gal.  My non tooth area/cavern/hole in my head has finally calmed down.  No more pain or throbbing.  Yeah me...

Yesterday I helped Far Guy with his car...scrubbing now that is in my wheelhouse.  He wanted the vinyl on the floor scrubbed before he puts those newly covered seats back in his car.   I must have done okay....then I had a nap.

Blanket

Here is the little blanket I made for our newest Great Grand due in late June.

This is Bernat yarn that is so soft, cuddly and warm.   I finished it pretty quickly and have one less project!  I still have five crochet projects happening at once.  ( scrubbies, a lace shawl, another shawl, Winter Wonderland and crochet bags)

I was not feeling well enough to go to Far Guy's Doctor appointment yesterday.  I stayed home and slept the entire time he was gone.  He is a big guy and can go to appointments with out me!

I am chilled and exhausted and hope I feel better soon.  Far Guy is making eggs for supper...soft foods for me, not much chewing or opening my mouth is a good thing.

FYI I made it through the pain with Ibuprofen...not much fun at all. They never did call in the prescription for the pain med that they said they would....the bums.

Tooth and Dogs

One of these days I should count my teeth.  I kinda like Nitrous Oxide, it takes the edge off.

Yes I had a messy tooth...it had an abscess that they cleaned up, packed it with something that will dissolve and put in a couple of stitches.  Uffda...

I cannot say that they were a real organized Oral Surgery Office.  My prescription never got to the Pharmacy...and when Far Guy called back to the Surgery center they only sent one prescription in.  We finally left town without the pain reliever. Far Guy was disgusted...we waited in the parking lot of the Pharmacy just about an hour.   I was so ready to just get the prescription and head home...

Little Elvis enjoyed our stay and he had a sleep over in our room.

Miss Sadie was so happy to see us especially Far Guy.

The kids painted the living room and Jen got new curtains...and the popcorn ceiling is history.

It is a much brighter room!

Ouch

I have a Dental Procedure on Monday....not looking forward to it other than putting it behind me.  I have been fighting a tooth abscess since last Fall ...I have had a root canal, many rounds of antibiotics...the last time the Dentist drilled into the crown and put medication down in the tooth...then more antibiotics...so it is time.

We will get to see Little Elvis and Sadie so that will make me feel better.

We have appointments nearly everyday this week.

Thank goodness I cooked last week and the freezer has many meals...because I may not feel like cooking.

Two down

Well we have two infusions behind us.  I told Far Guy I am going to take a photo every week.  So he is barely smiling/kinda frowning.June 18 2015

We were there only two hours this time.  He drank some grape juice.

I tell ya what…some dingbat sure thought out the procedure to mix “the stuff.”

The Infusion Nurses have highlighted the written important parts and we followed it step by step.  It has to be room temperature first so we call ahead to remind them to take it out of the fridge.  I thought I would just be observing but instead I mixed the solution right along with the nurse.  There are five vials of a powdery stuff and five vials of diluent, needles with sharps on both ends…the dilatant goes into the powdery stuff…then it is gently swirled until everything is dissolved.  Then it is sucked up into a very large syringe that has a special filter needle that traps any particulate that otherwise might cause a stroke. Then it is transferred to the IV bag…carefully..as with any needles…you don’t want to puncture anything else like the IV bag or your fingers. It took two of us 30 minutes to prepare “the stuff.” We could have used another pair of hands to hold the IV bag right side up while squirting “the stuff” in there.

It seems with any medical “stuff” there is lots happening in the background.  The Drug Company cannot understand why the infusions are being done in a Infusion Center.  They want a nurse to do them in our home…well that is not happening. (Too expensive and it is not covered by Medicare or our Insurance unless he is housebound.)  Then they want me to be trained…but they don’t know who will train me or when…they said “Ask the Infusion Nurses.” Really?  They should have the answers it is their “stuff” ( Plasma from many individuals…and it is made in Austria so I expect Far Guy will start yodeling any day now.)

We are not sure when he will be scheduled for the surgery that implants the port.

 The stuff June 18

Far Guy is way beyond frustrated.  He is ready to throw in the towel.  I told him what the hay just jog over to the cemetery and lay on the plot.  I figure the skeeters would bring him to his senses.

It has been a miserable week. I have a massive abscess that was in my jaw/roots of a tooth that has had root canals and a crown.  The abscess moved to just under my ear. (Think pocket gopher.) At least it doesn’t hurt as much as it did and I can sleep. I am taking 20 days of antibiotics before I see the Oral Surgeon and have it yanked out…I am looking forward to that with great anticipation.  If it isn’t one thing it is another. At least it is a back tooth…and at my age it is not worth saving…if a root canal and a crown didn’t fix it then I am better off without it.

Brown and Gray Days

Old Age: Just like an old building our foundation is a little unsteady.  A few of our rocks are loose, some are even missing.  Some boards have come loose and have been patched. Our roofs have seen better days.  We lean a little to the left or right or forward when we walk.

Now that the Oaks have shed their leaves this building is visible.  I think it is in the winter of it’s life.

I wonder what it was in earlier times?  Who or what sought shelter there?  It is just a little building not far from a road. I have passed this way many times, I finally stopped to give the building a moment of my time.

Brown and gray days are all part of a Minnesota November.  There was a little snow in the air again yesterday not enough to make the ground white.

I am done at the Dentist again…hopefully for good this time.  I broke a cusp on a tooth eating toast.  Old age will get ya!   Far Guy is doing okay, his TN always kicks up into high gear when the weather changes and the wind blows.  He reports that his tooth and fistula extraction sites are healing, and he doesn’t have pain all the time. Jen is recovering from her kidney stone removal slowly…it all takes time.

The sun tried to shine a bit yesterday afternoon, the sun and the clouds are in battle…and the clouds are winning the war for now:(

Trip to the Dentist

Gosh I hate going to the Dentist, but I am done again for six months.  Far Guy is not so lucky, he is scheduled for Oral Surgery, he has a wisdom tooth coming in sideways and a fistula. (Left over from a root amputation or a wayward bone fragment.)  He is not crazy, many times over the past few years he has said “Something is not right up there in my mouth.”  Well he was right and not crazy..the X Rays prove it.  He doesn’t get the famous Olympian Hockey playing Baker this time but another fellow.  I will let you know when it is over.  I have asked that they gel foam the incision and stitch him up to try to avoid a dry socket..we will see.  He has asked for Nitrous. This is his last Wisdom Tooth…he should have had them all removed at once when he was younger…he had two done at once and swore never again…well never again is on round two.

We go to a further away little town to the Dentist.  He is a Finnish lad.   His wife who shoulda been a Dentist is the hygienist. We schedule our appointments back to back, since it is a 40 minute drive over there.

Chance and I went wandering about town and the immediate area while Far Guy was in the chair.

We stopped by St. Urho and then headed out to the forest fire area.

IMG_3311

This area burned last summer.  It was part of the Green Valley Forest Fire.

Sad to see wide open spaces that used to be filled with pine trees.  There are huge piles of brush and some wood is being chipped into small pieces.  What logs could be salvaged are long gone.

I found this great bunch of Halloween decorations.  Someone has the Halloween spirit!

While I was in the chair Far Guy and Chance went to visit a classmate of his who is in assisted living.   He has a memory problem that was induced by overindulgence in alcohol following the death of his girlfriend.  He can remember everything in the distant past, but cannot remember if he ate today or who visited him.  He always remembers Far Guy.  I am not sure how much company he gets…but if he cannot remember does it really matter:(

Bad Day Tuesday

IMG_5204

Sometimes do you feel like the wind has been taken out of your sails?  That you just need to rest for a bit. STOP the whole freaking world ..I just want to get off this crazy ride.  I just need to bury my head under a pillow and tomorrow will be a better day.  I barely have the energy to bitch and moan properly.

That freaking overpaid government employee that is supposed to deliver our mail called AGAIN before 8AM, he has a package for me..what should he do with it..well you can just imagine what I woulda told him ..but Far Guy intercepted the phone call.  Far Guy will drive to town and get the offending package..what a poor excuse for a mail man..he whines more than I do.

Today might be a bad day…perhaps it was the TWO Root Canals I endured yesterday…feeling like a red hot poker was being stabbed into my sinus cavity..or maybe it was the antibiotic solution the dripped down and set my tongue on fire.  Perhaps it was paying the bill, for something that may or may not work..as the infection was widespread..and the drainage hole in my upper gum is now draining some vile crap..perhaps it is the swelling that makes me talk funny..perhaps I just need a time out.  I know that my ability to cope is non-existent today.

I am going back to bed..tomorrow will be a better day.  Maybe I just need to load up on Aleve or Advil, or some of Far Guys good stuff that knocks me out.

I WILL be fine..just not today:(
