Old Dogs

Old dogs grow weary, their joints ache, their hearing and sight fail...but they have had a good life.

It is easier to recall them as puppies...recalling the puppy breath, sharp toe nails and teeth.  Puppies always make us smile.

March of 2012 Steve and Jo next door neighbors got a little Aussie pup and named him Putzer or Putz for short.   He was a very special little puppy.

Odda, Putz and our Border Collie Chance in 2012.

These three were great friends, always happy to see each other and ready for a good game of chase.  Putz always greeted us, his whole body wagged.

Sadly Putz crossed the Rainbow Bridge on July 2, 2024.  His nose was still good, but he couldn't hear or see much.  His faithful friends Odda (2009-2021) and Chance(2004-2018) were probably waiting for his arrival.

Summer Morning and Evening

Yesterday we spent the morning in town.  Our car went to be washed and waxed.  We drove the new/old car around town.  Far Guy cruised Main and got on the webcam.  I had him stop by the Fire Hall in town they have red, white and blue flowers there.

The light was not great on the flowers.  We went through a drive through for breakfast and then went to a park to watch people and dogs while we ate.  Then we decided to visit Far Guy's cousins...and take them for a ride.

Cousin Wayne getting his first look at the new/old car.   They enjoyed the ride.

Soon it was time to pick up the other vehicle, buy some gas...prices are $2.99 a gallon here now and head for home.  By 11 AM we were back home.

We had an uneventful afternoon....after supper we went for a ride...and visited with neighbors and petted their dogs.

Putz and Titus

Sadly Snoopy is no longer part of that pack...he went over the Rainbow Bridge all by himself one morning....Snoopy belonged to neighbor Dave and when he could no longer care for Snoopy he went to live with Steve and Jo. ( Snoopy used to come here to visit Chance)  Putz is mostly blind but Titus keeps him out of trouble herding him around.  Funny how dogs just know what other dogs need.

A stick

We had fun watching the neighbor dogs.  Old Putzer has finally accepted Titus the puppy.   Putz cannot see very well anymore...but his hearing is still good.

We got our dog fix.   Titus is a bit shy... he was a bit wary of Far Guy but came right up to me.  After Putz made a beeline to Far Guy then Titus decided he was okay.  Silly dogs....they sure had fun fighting over one stick.

Titus has gotten quite a bit taller since the last time I saw him....his Mom was a Border Collie and his Dad a Great Pyrenees.   It will be interesting to see how big he gets.
