Busy week

One more week left in this miserable month of snow and cold.  It seems like the weather forecasters completely miss how cold it is every morning.  They predict –7F  (-21C)and it goes to –24F (-31C).  We are supposed to be done with that bitter cold now..we will see.

It was a busy week.  I made some headway with my “Winter Cleaning.”  I wanted to be all done by Easter but that probably won’t happen.  I finished up the downstairs bathroom, bedroom and living room…all had been in various stages of cleaning and are now done.  Onto the laundry/furnace room and the kitchen/dining room.  Sometimes I start with one project and get way laid for days in some other more fun direction.

I spent a day in my photo backup system deleting copies of photos.  I should spend another day in there deleting some photos..with my new big girl camera more space is need per photo.  Who needs six different views of Chance in the same snow bank anyway..keep the best one and delete the rest.  (You know how hard that is?)  I am not so good at editing.

Whilst cleaning out the bathroom..I took inventory of my makeup.  I only wear make up on special days and to work.  What a bunch of  junk I had..so I made a list and purchased what I needed..one small bag and $50  later I still need some lip gloss and hypoallergenic mascara.  As I was tossing things in my shopping cart..I thought..self you should really replace some of this crap every few months and then you wouldn’t have to spend so much time in the make up aisle.  Far Guy came to check on me twice to make sure I was okay, one time he pretended he needed me to answer a highly technical toilet bowl cleaner question…bleach or not..clinging gel or regular? ( I gave him the other shopping list that didn’t include makeup.)  It was good for him to have the other list..it was a learning experience.  He knows I am fussy about some things..toilet bowl cleaner not so much.

I ordered some new shoes for work.  Two new pairs of Crocs..one pair black with a sling back which might be real sexy if I didn’t have winter dry heels that feel like sandpaper.  The other pair is a red Mary Jane type..oh I love a red shoe they are one of my weaknesses.

I need to think about some new work clothes soon..a red sweater is on my list..and most likely a couple of red tops..to go with all the red shoes:)

Crocs

I like crocs and the croc knockoffs.  I began to wear them after years in the greenhouse with “swim shoes” that would have to be kept outside because they smelled so bad…no amount of foot powder would help them out. I had three pair of swim shoes that I rotated throughout the day.  Then my daughter Jen gave me a pair of red croc like shoes.  Crocs served a good purpose for me, they were cool, comfortable and I could get them wet a hundred times a day and they never smelled bad. I was sold..out went the rotting swim shoes.

Old Red crocs My most favorite old red croc knock offs, they are MANY years old. I need to spiff them up a bit for summer..they are easily cleaned up and rinsed off.

I have one foot that is not normal..it is longer than the other and it has no ankle joint to speak of..it moves bone on bone and has been that way well over thirty years ( long story ..shit happens)  I need comfortable shoes..I cannot tolerate a shoe that pinches my longer toes or touches my big toe.  Crocs give me the freedom to continue spoiling my foot and keep me from getting real cranky. I must have a flat shoe..forget anything with a heel. I am flat footed..I am not sure that I have arches..I do not need to support anything important..I just need comfort..and crocs work for me.  I do have a pair of hiking boots that I have had for years…I wear them if I am out walking on uneven ground.

Pink Crocs

Do I wear socks with my crocs..yes some days I do.  My best friend Susan brought me these the other day..no need for socks with these pretty pink ones! Black Knock offs Basic black to go with almost everything. These were a Christmas Gift from Jen.

newest brown crocs

And these are my new brown crocs..from Cabelas. I think they are so cute..brown is the new black at least that is what my daughters say.

I know, I know..plastic shoes..I am supporting foreign countries.  I am single handedly filling up the landfills..but I have not thrown any of these “plastic” shoes away yet..and if I ever find any just like my favorite red ones at a garage sale you can bet that they will be going home with me.

Until I find a Cobbler to make me a custom pair of shoes I will be wearing crocs and croc knock offs…if my feet could smile they would:)

I Need Fashion Help!

Well what do you think? Can I wear my wool socks with my crocs out of the house or not? They are not as warm as my sheep lined boots, but on these warmer days when our temperatures are above 20 degrees, they might be a treat for my feet. They feel pretty good, the wool socks aren't too scratchy. Gosh I miss the comfort that Crocs give my feet. Do you think that the socks are too matchy matchy with the red crocs?

I only have one pair of crocs, I am not one of those shoe whores. I get a pair of shoes I like and I wear them out, I get value out of my shoes.

I love my crocs, I miss them in the winter, I long to put them on and walk right through mud puddles. Last summer when we went to the Headwaters of the Mississippi, I just walked right in the water..refreshing. If my crocs get muddy I just hose them off, or walk through Chances pool. Mud and water you can walk through are four months away. I should just stop thinking of Spring.

My friend Sue in Indiana says she loves the way her tired feet go away when she wears crocs. She also admires the funny looking spotted feet she has when she takes them off.

Should I go shopping and splurge on another pair? I am thinking Lime Green or Orange. Or should I just look for different color wool socks? :)
