Winner Winner Turkey Dinner

Ack!  When we drove by Far Guy said “Are those feathers?”  I replied “I am not sure weren’t they leaves?  Let’s go back and see for sure.”

Turkey death or maybe just a scalping

They were feathers. Right there on the scene of the crime…only feathers and lots of them. Neither of us have ever seen anything like it.

Turkey feather

Some feathers were still whole and others were broken off at the shaft of the feather.

Possibly someone hit a turkey with a vehicle and the carcass was carried off..or a wolf got a turkey and they had a wild fight in the road.  Either way something got a turkey dinner.

I guess when you are a turkey you never know exactly when Thanksgiving is…and your time is up. Winner winner turkey dinner….or maybe there is a bald turkey out there running around in the woods….yes that might be it.

Likely if not hit by a car, a great-horned owl, eagle, coyote or a fox enjoyed a dinner. :)

Well, he doesn't have to worry about November, at least. :-)

Sad to see. The food chain can seem cruel.

Wow- that must have been some tussle!

Yikes! The feathers are scattered quite a distance. If it was a vehicle, it must have some major damage and clearly was going too fast.

More then likely got nailed by a car and a free supper or breakfast for a wolf/ coyote or even a fox ! Still humid here looking forward to the cooler fall temps soon . Kids went back to school today the bus passed this morning marks then end of summer for us here in Ontario eh? Hope you both are well . Have a good day !

That turkey won't get the presidential pardon either. I love turkey dinner any time of year. Yum!

Does make one wonder - I hope if it was hit (likely I suspect) that some worthy animals enjoyed their feast.

It would not be good to be part of that group, called the lowest of the food chain. Shiver!

It looks more like a car incident and then somebody else cleaned things up. Coyotes do that job here.

We hit a deer once and almost hit an Osprey once , ( taking off with a fish just a bit too heavy for him) but besides that we've been lucky. It's so scary to be driving along and seemingly out of nowhere... WHAM.

Mmmmm. Interesting mystery. One would think a car did the deed but I've seen similar in the woods Turkey are big and strong and all that easy to bring down....

Well, I've heard of bald eagles...but never a bald turkey. I suspect someone's Thanksgiving came extra early this year...

Poor turkey. I just hate seeing something killed on the road.

They can hurt you! I told you about the one that flew in my son's closed driver side window while he was going down the interstate in Iowa. Flew over 3 lanes of traffic and the big grassy area in the middle just to get to him.
Thank goodness he and my grandson only had minor injuries. The turkey was dead inside the truck.....they're thinking it was suicide.
