Henderson MN

Years ago we visited Henderson Minnesota during Sauerkraut Days. There is usually a celebration in June complete with all the sauerkraut you can eat.  I know I ate my share.

On our recent trip to Southern Minnesota…Far Guy asked “How far are we from Henderson?”  We were about twenty miles away and it was only a few miles out of the way.

I wonder how many Henderson’s actually live in Henderson?

Well… there were at least two more one day last week.

Fun! When I was in my high school band, one of the parades we played in was for Sauerkraut Days in Henderson! I went through there a few years back when I took my mother out for a drive. Great photo of the main drag!

We have a Sauerkraut Festival in Waynesville, Ohio also. Always a lot of interesting sauerkraut based foods to try. Lots and lots of arts and crafts, too. I'm guessing Waynesville is named after General "Mad" Anthony Wayne. He was important in early Ohio history.

My cousin (also my godmother) married a Henderson in Scotland. He was born in South Africa but was sent for by a Scottish uncle to inherit the estate - which he did. Was a Pathfinder during WWII and died in his late 80s. His son Will now runs the estate. He grows many many carrots. Potatoes too I think.

I was in Henderson NC yesterday. Our Henderson is not nearly as pretty as yours.

I love little towns like the one in your first photo. Did you get to eat sauerkraut this time too? It makes me horribly sick so I never have it.

I'll pass on the sauerkraut, but what a sweet little namesake town! ;)

I agree with MTWaggin! I get so homesick for the midwest this time of year.
