Spring Things

I am like a kid sometimes.  I have a “thing” for boxes and cases.  There….I said it I am a hoarder of boxes, cases and maybe even tins. I saw these Spring like boxes in an second hand shop…who could resist?

Spring time boxes

Right now they will hold colorful plastic eggs and candy for a possible Easter Egg Hunt!  After Easter I will find something else to store inside.

Art Box

Now doesn’t this look interesting?  It is a wooden case…very well made too.

Art Supplies

It holds a variety of second hand art supplies; crayons, markers, colored pencils and oil pastels.

Colored Pencils

I was most interested in the colored pencils…I had hoped they were water color pencils..they were not.  BUT I think I read someplace that baby oil or alcohol can be used as a blender so that you can use a colored pencil and get lots of colors and shades.  I will have to try it…someday.  I can doodle in color!!

My husband was already eyeing those markers. I will share….although yesterday he made a comment to one of my friends… “ Sometimes she rolls her eyes so far back in her head that she can see her own brain.”

Beautiful boxes.

Your eye rolling talent is impressive, do your brains look like mashed potatoes mixed with ketchup?

FG's comment is funny. I have never heard it put that way before! I, too, like pretty storage containers and have difficulty resisting them. Life is short - - - make it pretty when you can!

Laughing about the eye rolling. You got some great treasures. I love pretty boxes, too. When I was young, I saved the boxes stationery came in.
I read a funny the other day.....A wife can "hear" her husband roll his eyes over the phone!!!!!!

No that is rolling the eyes! I wouldn't let him near your new colored pencils, they might be broken, or they will need sharpening before you can start your doodling. Nice finds.

Oh I love the art box as well and am pretty sure if it was second hand in that good of shape I would have snapped it up too! Doesn't FG realize that is how Mom's "have eyes in the back of their heads"?

I myself like to buy empty containers, I always think I will find something to put in them. The art box is a great idea for your supplies.

Uffda? We keep boxes just in case we ever get round to selling all our prized valuables on Ebay!

Hi there, it is so nice to meet you! Thanks for coming by my blog and leaving such a nice comment. (I'm from the FB Over 40 group.) I am your newest follower and will be putting your blog on my blogroll as well. I love containers, too - especially baskets. They really do help keep things organized.

Ooooh...I'd have a weakness for something like those boxes and art supplies if I found them at a second hand store, too! Good finds!

You have some awesome boxes to! I am one for wicker baskets, but I keep eyeing some boxes everytime I hit a michaels store or a joann fabrics!

I like those pretty boxes too, usually the dollar stores have a good selection as each holiday rolls around. I mostly look and don't buy though. I saw a similar art/coloured pencil case, ridiculously cheap, but resisted buying it because I think we probably have most of that stuff around anyway, and it is not getting used. Sometimes I am able to show some will power and pass up a bargain:)

Now a well made wooden case with crayons and many more supplies is a good deal!

Oh, I love boxes, and tins too ! My mind is always thinking of ways to use them .I do find often I am storing boxes ( especially wooden boxes ) simply because I love boxes. That is when I decide I am no longer practical about the purpose of boxes, especially when I consider I have nothing to store in my many boxes and tins ~ but I still collect them anyway !

Love the rolling the eyes comment--LOL!
I love boxes and containers, too.
You can blend colored pencils with odorless mineral spirits, rubbing alcohol, baby oil...I've heard of a lot of ways to shade, blend colors, and soften edges, but have never tried any of them. I know there are actual blending pencils or tools that you can purchase, too. Have fun! :)
