Up Nort’

Saw this sign at the fair last week.  Seems fitting as we are headed for a heat wave and searching for ways to cool off. Yesterdays high was 87 F ( 30 C eh!) with as much humidity…it is the humidity that makes it feel so very warm.

Up Nort

In a few months we will be back to freezing our butts off instead of sweating to death whilst swatting skeeters and deer flies.

  1. I just wish there was a happy medium. I really dislike the northern winters and wait patiently for summer. Then when it gets here I sweat to death and swat mosquitoes and flies. Think what I need is a climate controlled dome to live in. Perfect 72 degrees year round with medium humidity. Wishful thinking.

  2. The reason we left Colorado is the hot summers and the snow in the winter. But it was all much more civilized than what you deal with in Minnesota, it seems to me. Come to the Pacific Northwest for pretty perfect weather, if you can deal with the rain, that is. :-)

  3. It is going to be hot and humid in MPLS today too and there is an Excessive Heat Warning out. We may see some storms this afternoon or evening they are telling us. Good old MN! Better though than 20 below.

  4. I think the best months in your area are June, September, and October.

    Happy skeeter swatting!

  6. Something is definitely wrong as we are cooler than you are, here in North Central Arkansas. It was 66 this morning and the temps in Iowa where my kids are was warmer. I have had the windows open almost all summer here....a first! They keep saying it will warm up but every day is just gorgeous and not humid. It's like we've switched places. I'm loving it but I feel for you!

  7. I think I prefer the heat to the cold! I have never liked the cold, it seems no matter what I do, I can't get warm enough in the cold weather!

  8. That's the truth! Is there no in-between?

  9. I really like the moose. We worked near the main offices today and we propped all the office doors to cool us off while working. It was miserable out there today.

  12. I hear some less humid air is on its way this morning, thank goodness. Tough sleeping last night as the low was 81, but as you say, it's the humidity that fries you.

  13. Last week was perfect weather for us - - - cool mornings and moderate temps during the day with lower humidity. It did not last and it is summer again here, too. I told the turtle in the yard to eat more bugs at a faster rate. Do they eat bugs? I think the mosquitoes have a "locating" device planted on me so they all know the minute I step out the door!

  14. At least the predicted storms fizzled somewhat last night. Glad they went north of me.

  15. We just have to go with the flow with our climate. Once in a while a super grand kid shows up and we can forget about cold and deer flies.
