Early Saturday morning I was awakened by thunder and lightening. Chance was nervous…he laid right beside me and panted. I dozed..Far Guy woke me up and said he was leaving “Terry’s barn is on fire.” My first thought was “THE HORSES.”
The beautiful Akhal-Teke..
Could it be true..
She and her stable mates..gone?
Hard to believe..here one day and gone tomorrow. We stopped by on Sunday afternoon to see if anyone was around…the pasture was empty..the farm yard is empty without the barn that has stood in that yard for as long as I can remember and then some.
It is rumored that there are only 400 Akhal-Tekes here in the United States..now there are only 399.
I feel sadness for the horses that died early Saturday morning and for all their owners:(

That is so sad. I feel very bad for the owners.
Oh No!! That is so sad!!
So sorry for the poor horses.
I never heard of that type of horse. I'll have to google it.
The owners must be devastated!
How horribly sad. Such a loss for all...
Yes, very sad - daughter and friends were very upset with this tragedy they had a personal connection with the horses.
Oh I feel soo sad for the owners and horses. Sorry to hear of this. I to have never heard of this breed of horse I will have to look it up !
It brings such sadness to my heart. I have loved horses since I saw my first one as a very little girl. So large, regal, each on with their own personality, definition and stance. My heart grieves so for the ones that were lost. Will pray for all those hurting over this fire and loss.
Really sorry to hear that. *hugs* and prayers for all. ♥
That's awful.
Such a beautiful, beautiful animal. I am saddened by the loss. It's tragic.
How horrible. It is such a tragedy. It breaks my heart to hear about the loss of any animal, especially in such a devastating manner as this.
So sorry. Never know why things like that happen.
Oh no - such sad news!
Oh Connie, that is simply awful. I am so very sorry for those people.

Oh no that's horrible. I'm so sorry for those horses. I know the owners are sick to have lost such beautiful horses and I'm sure become family members.
How extremely awful...tears, tears, and more tears...
That is just aweful! I am glad that I leave my horses out most of the time and not in the barn. So very sad!
That's awful. When I hear about barn fires, I can't help but imagine how terrified the animals must have been.
A horse owners WORST NIGHTMARE...
Me too.
Makes my heart ache....what a beautiful creature.
I have no words...only sadness.
I keep saying I am not an animal person, but I do love horses.... from afar. They are such majestic and magical creatures. So sad to lose any of them.
I always hate to hear something like this.....its heartbreaking.
How horrible. I know barns are susceptible in the summer because of the spontaneous combustion with hay, etc being stored - - - at least that's what Grandpa used to talk about - - - but it's so terribly, terribly sad. The loss of the beautiful animals and also the building needed by the owner are huge.
It is a tough story to read as I wanted the horses to survive and that didn't happen. It is a tragic thing.
That is just sickening to think about. All I can think of is the terror those horses would have been feeling before they were overcome by the smoke.
Sad, sad, sad!
oh groan. how horrible
