Critters

A bear visited...  bent the bird feeder pole took down a bird feeder plopped down on his butt and ate two suet cakes and some bird seed.   The Trail Cam was turned off so there is no photo.  We are bringing the bird feeders in at night now.

Baxter ate a piece of metal ( part of a fence post wire) got really sick and had emergency surgery on Sunday afternoon.  As of last night he was doing okay.

Sadie was spayed last week and only spent a few hours quietly before she returned to her normal busy self.

Photo taken the last time Sadie was here visiting us....it will be a bit before she can go swimming again.

Wow, so much activity between the dogs and the bear. Last year there were a lot of bear issues just west of us by 30 miles. Bears were raiding bird feeders and going on people's decks.

This year I haven't heard much, but then again I cleaned out my FB account.

I hope Baxter fully recovers.

Wow, that's the kind of visitor I could do without. Sure hope Baxter is doing okay. Nothing exciting here to write about.

Hope Baxter recovers completely, and I figure it won't be long before Sadie is her old self. :-)

Ouch Baxter! I've never seen a bear and hope I never do.

I have to bring my suet feeders in at night and have for years now. I also had to take down my bird feeders a long time ago too, because the raccoons would cart them off at night no matter how hubby tried to out-fool them. Now I scatter seed on the ground back there and the birds eat it just as well. Poor Baxter... I will pray for complete healing. For Sadie too! ~Andrea xoxo

Yup, time to take the feeders in, while there is something left of them!

Poor Baxter, I hope his recovery is speedy. As for Sadie, I always laugh at the vet because they suggest the animal be kept quiet and not run or jump because someone needs to tell the animal. They seem to heal faster and know what they can do better than we do.

Darn bear!

Gosh, Baxter was lucky that could have been a very bad thing.

That bear visit sounds very scary! Hope Baxter recovers quickly.

One of the dogs was not feeling well when we house sat over the weekend. The vet was thinking he has some type of infection. Pretty lethargic, not eating well, but not throwing up. His eyes began to look kind of goopy by Sunday morning. She is taking him to the vet again this morning.

Hope Baxter is back to normal quickly...but not eating alien objects!
Sadie--we know she'll be back to her old self soon.
Naughty bear!

Bears can be a nuisance. we don't have any here. I suspect that it's only a matter of time for them to discover that we have good things to eat.

Naughty bear! I'm hearing a lot about bears getting in to mischief this year.

Poor Baxter. Glad he's doing well, and hope nothing like that happens to him again.

Glad Sadie is recovering quickly from her spay. Wish I could bounce back from surgery that quickly.

I guess it's the dog days of summer, but we don't need the bears!

Oh my, there's no peace at your home right now, and I'm sorry. But I am glad that the suet feeders was the only casualties the bear caused but I hope that Baxter is feeling better, and Sadie stays her normal busy self.

Too bad the trail camera was off. That would have been interesting to see.
Hopefully Baxter makes a complete recovery. We have a friend who was a vet assistant for years and she'd have all kinds of stories to tell of what dogs managed to eat.

Oh Baxter, what were you thinking? I was babysitting a dog many years ago and it ate a rubber-like kids toy. It was sick for a few days but then it was ok. Bears seem to be out of my control factor. It is funny how they are becoming so common in your area. The moose is not a fun one to have around either. I hope things settle down.

Oh no Baxter, hope he gets healed up! That bear was a nuisance! My father in law has been taking his feeders in all summer. That Sadie sure has grown!

That bear is as bad as ours. I have stopped feeding until fall.
Poor pup. Surgery must be such a shock!
