Minnesota roads are looking good, a few isolated slippery spots, otherwise perfect for a late afternoon drive. There is still some snow in the ditches. The snowstick still has snow too.
Met some special people to have supper with. Pizza and loaded nachos were devoured then we came back home. It wasn’t a trip to our normal town and it wasn’t to the clinic or a hospital. Yeah!
Earlier in the day Far Guy tried to access his own port, it didn’t go so well so he handed it off to me. ( He was really really disgusted and discouraged…he said “I knew it was a failure.”) I really had to shove on his chest to get the needle in…think owie owie ker…thump. Sucess with a blood return and the Gravity Flow IV worked like a charm at 66 drops per minute and the IV took 18 1/2 minutes. We are now keeping track of this “stuff.” Next week some of the swelling should be reduced and it will be easier to access the port. Having this week behind us will be a good thing…not sure we have a normal anymore as each week is a new adventure.
Hopefully we are back on track…but neither of us are counting on it.
Not much traffic on this back road, we met maybe six cars on our way and about the same number on the way back. We got back home just when it was getting to that time of night that you could see a few stars in the sky. We saw no deer, turkeys or any other kind of wildlife.
Nice you were able to get out and enjoy friends and dinner on clear roads. You needed some fun!
Happy to hear you got out for a drive and some fun. I think a ride in the country is a mind refreshing ride. Also glad the roads were in good shape. The city here did a lousy job of plowing after our last snow fall. Have a great weekend.
Morning, oh yummy, pizza, makes me happy...Roads looking good, expecting white crap today here, yuk!! Blessings Francine.
I am glad you were finally able to get the needle in, but it sure does sound like an ordeal with no good options. I'm hoping you're right and when the swelling goes down it will be easier. Poor guy. :-(
Oh my goodness, I hate so bad that Far Guy has been through all this..a sore swollen chest and then needles...I can't even imagine. And you! You are an amazing nurse! I don't know how you do it! Sure think about you.
Those roads you travel to town look long and peaceful. Glad you got out and had pizza! Pizza always cheer me up! :)
I admire your coolness and your "let's get down to it" attitude. It's amazing what we can endure and accomplish!
Went for a drive yesterday too; been stuck inside qith a old for too long!
Glad you and Far Guy had a bit of enjoyment.
Glad the port worked--whew! Should go better as FarGuy heals up. What a pain--quite literally. Glad you were able to get out and about on some dry roads for a little break. :)
It worked, although uncomfortable, to say the least AND the snow is melting. Both are good.
Have a blessed weekend.
Beautiful day for a drive! I would not be good with inserting a medical device.
So glad to read you got out for food and not medical reasons. The roads look good in the photos. Hope they look as good tomorrow. Sounds like you will get more snow than we will in the cities. BTW: I saw your missing turkeys were down here yesterday! They must have heard the weather report. ;-)
Wonderful to see those dry roads! Only in MN do we get so thrilled by dry pavement! I am so glad that you were able to get that flowing going. So discouraging with the ports but you didn't give up and got the job done. Kudos! I hope it gets easier as time passes.
Not seeing wildlife on a road as it was getting dark is a VERY GOOD THING!
Sounds like a good outing; you're very phlegmatic! Impressed.
That port has been a royal pain. It's a good thing you can go for a good drive.
Glad it worked better all though seems like a bitch to put it in hope that gets better and easier , Glad you were able to get out and about . Thanks for sharing , Have a good weekend !
I can remember thinking that very thought, 'not sure we have a normal anymore' when I was caring for my Richard. Things will get easier, I am sure!! Have a great weekend
It's nice when you can relax and do something for fun for a change. Hope all goes well with the new "port of entry"....think positive!
I'm so sorry FG is having to go through this- and you too. I can't imagine. ut God gives us strength when we need it most! Have a great weekend!
Each week may bring new adventures but some you could do without. Nice that you met up with friends and shared yummy food.
I'm glad you got out for a bit of fun!
Sure hope that port starts working deficiently.
Hope spring comes soon down your way.
I'm very sorry for the difficulty/pain with the port. So stressful for you both. Glad you had a little enjoyment and I hope the week ahead is much better.
I have been wondering how things were going for you two, post op...but then I realized I hadn't been reading here since things have been so hectic for us lately, so I was glad to find this update...even though I'm catching up on news.
Oh, I hope this port thing all works out for you both and you have no more problems but like you said...at our age...each day is a new adventure!
