Some little carvings were finished up and painted this week.
These are all small Cottonwood Bark Carvings. I put the pen in there for a size reference. I like carving these little creations because they fit nicely in my arthritic hands.
Here they are painted and sealed. I will send one off to Sam for winning the Snowstick Contest.
I never know what a hunk of wood will turn into until I start carving and let the wood speak to me. Each one is a one of a kind, no two are ever alike.
It was a beautiful day yesterday 51 F or 10 C eh! The sun was out and everything. The dogs spent much of the day outside. No squirrels in our yard today! I did a little yard clean up. My raking muscles need to be broken in slowly! If we had a perfect lawn I wouldn’t rake this time of year, but our lawn is au natural so we can get by with it.
Have always loved your dogs and their different personalities. The carvings are unique and beautiful. I'll have to look to see if you have an etsy
Your carvings are really cool - so unique. Miss Miney is certainly giving you "the eye". Can't tell if she is tired of the picture taking or tired of playing ball. haha I raked in the yard a little yesterday and my shoulders are complaining; I need to take it a little at a time. Have a great weekend.
Lovely carvings ! I love days like that being outside with my dog Miggs but she is a camera diva and loves to pose for me lol ! Lovely photos . Thanks for sharing , have a good weekend !
I love your carvings and am glad Sam won if it couldn't have been me. I was WAY off. MIney certainly has an expressive face. :-)
Morning, love your carvings, very talented and I a a dog lover.Blessings Francine.
I know you are glad to see the ground.
Great carvings! I like that you let the wood tell you what to do...a true artist.
Love your carvings! How do you find the time?
Even with crippled hands - your carvings are wonderful.
I love your carvings. So unique.
Your carvings are beautiful. I love that you have the wood speak to you.
You are so very talented, Connie! I love your carvings!
Sweet carvings!! Love what you "discover" in the wood. :)
This is unbelievable weather again. Supposed to get up to 66 today! Enjoy! :)
Your cravings are beautiful. It was 65* here yesterday but the wind was howling so I did housework and just put raking on the list for today if it isn't blowing....I hate wind...and raking...both at the same time just isn't going to happen.
You do such a great job with your carvings. I like the different little buildings that they become. You collie photo of the three is marvelous. The eyes of our dogs do express a lot.
In Boy Scout years ago I turned wood carving merit badge into finger carving merit badge.
Great painting on your carvings. you must have special paint that works for bark.
Haha. Miss Miney is quite the expressionist. ^_^
Your carvings are always so amazing. You do such wonderful work, Connie. I hope you all have a blessed weekend.
Your carvings are charming; some of them look like homes for tiny birds and some like homes for fairies or gnomes.
You are the wood whisperer! The carvngs are wonderful! But where the heck did you get 51°? We got a dumping of snow in the cities. Just kidding! It was even better today than yesterday. Hitting a fish fry tonight.
I love the whimsical little woodcarvings. Do you sell them?
Yes I do sell some, contact me by email:)
Just acrylic craft paint! Then I use a clear coat finish:)
Your carvings look especially nice once painted and varnished. Their small size makes it easy to find spots to display them I would imagine.
I have a hand carved Santa in his longjohns that is carved out of cottonwood bark. I bought it at a craft fair in a little farm town in upstate New York when we were passing through on one of our travels.
I am fascinated with your little carvings.
Yeah, we have one of those au natural lawns, too--once the drought got ahold of it :(
I love the wood carvings. These are sweet pics of the doggies, too. I wish you guys a good weekend.
Your carvings are great. I, too, am loving the warm weather. Have to keep reminding myself that it's too soon to put away the warm coats!
If a piece of wood ever decided it wanted to be a sheep... :-)
Was that ME you mentioned having won the snow stick contest? And I get one of your carvings? OMG! This is better than the lottery! Coming from you I will cherish it forever! I better check...I may not be the only "sam" in your followers....I do tend to get the cart before the horse sometimes!
The picture of all the dogs together looks like a scene from Lassie! Such beautiful dogs.
Yes Sam it is you! :0
