Dreary Day

It was a dreary day here in Minnesota.

Not much happening.  I finished the May Baskets and they are partially filled.  I did some laundry and hemmed a pair of pants that were too long for me.  No machine involved...I can sew by hand faster than dragging the old Sears sewing machine out.

Far Guy was busy all day...walking, making ice with the ice machine and cooking supper...Impossible Italian Sausage Pie.

Minnesota weather: Dreary.  High 50F or 10C  Low was 34F or 0C.

  1. A dreary day every once in a while is kinda nice....as long as it is only one day!

  2. Our weather was cloudy and gloomy a lot of the day - - with only barely a spit here and there of rain. We desperately need rain in our area. Possibly this week but we live in a horseshoe where the rain often goes around us in that kind of pattern. God knows. It will happen when it happens and then people will fuss it is raining too much. The good news is we got to stay home and do whatever - - chores or read or TV or puzzles or just veg out cuz we had no more energy. Both of us worked too hard in the yard the day before.
I, too, handsew and it is very often quicker. Does Far Guy have a countertop ice machine? My husband got one maybe four years ago because he likes the small crunchy ice. He fills and maintains cleaning that machine for which I am thankful. There are plenty of other things to keep me busy.

  6. I have trouble operating my sewing machine. Without my seamstress sister to help me, I dread sewing. It wasn’t sewing right last year. She checked it. I had the bobbin in backwards. She said look there’s a picture. Ugh. The thread on the bobbin she wound is almost gone and she’s gone…what to do…sew by hand.

I make ice too. My fridge doesn’t have an ice maker. I make enough to last a while then put the ice machine up til I need more.

Hope the sun will shine on you today.

  7. I find I can sew faster by hand than threading my sewing machine, too.

  8. My ice maker in the fridge quit spitting it down the hole and they wanted $300.00 a year ago to fix it! No thanks! Especially when I can still open the door and reach in to get some.

  9. It's gray and overcast here today, but (knock wood) there is no moisture falling. At the current temp it would be rain, but we really don't need that either.
    Enjoy your dinner!

  11. I love that you still do May Baskets! I haven't done them since I was a kid. My sister used to do them with her children, until a nosey neighbor saw them leave one on my grandma's step and called my grandma saying that there were some kids lurking and up to no good, which made my grandma really nervous and scared. That was the last of the May Baskets in our family :(
