I do like a Tootsie Pop! Grape or cherry...orange in a pinch. Far Guy likes the brown ones. At home I have a jar full of them and our Grands knew they would get one for their trip home after a visit.
I got the fellow in a headdress shooting a star!!! In the olden days I would have saved the wrapper and turned it in at the local grocery store to get a free Tootsie Pop. You know back then they were sold individually and usually displayed in a box on a rack in the candy area. They used to say it was good luck to get the fellow shooting a star...it happened about once in every 4 to 6 pops. Not every store followed the unwritten rule about the free one!Springing ahead. I am not a fan...I will be discombobulated for at least a week.
Minnesota weather: High 43F or 6C Low was 33F or 1C eh. Mostly cloudy and we might get some rain.
Far Side
I never knew about the guy with a headdress shooting a star! Now I'll have to go get some Tootsie Pops! I am also not a fan of our time jumping around. However, now that I'm not working, time is rather relative!
ReplyDeletei swapped out m&ms for tootsie pops...no fat and no salt...lol
ReplyDeleteI also have always looked for the good luck bow & arrow guy!! Love that you got to turn your good luck wrapper in for a free Tootsie Pop. What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteMy fav flavor is red. Every Tootsie Pop lover appreciates those that prefer the Brown ones.
The time change messes with my body, too. Its internal timer tells me I am lying to it when I try to move ahead an hour. I bet dogs hate the time change.
ReplyDeleteI have always wondered it the "Indian shooting a star" rule went beyond my local area. I always dutifully saved those wrappers but for the life of me, I can't ever remember trying to exchange one for a free sucker though I know that was the reason I saved it to begin with. I'm guessing my mom likely threw them out while I was in school.
ReplyDeleteI’m with FG, the brown are the best. I used to like the Pops because they lasted so long.
ReplyDeleteI’m not good at jumping. It hurts. So jumping in time is painful to me.
I'm not sure we had tootsie pops when I was a kid, as I can't remember them. We did have a candy store that had penny candy. Every Saturday I'd spend part of my allowance on a comic book and candy!
ReplyDeleteWe went to daylight savings time back in the mid-60's in Saskatchewan, and here in Arizona, they don't change their clocks either. Not sure how I managed that :p Hope your internal clock resets quickly.
I have a hard time springing forward also. But the reality is Terry and I operated by the sun anyway unless we have appointments that force us to keep to the clock.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember tootsie pops. Maybe I'm too old to remember tootsie pops.
ReplyDeleteWe did not have that tradition! I will have to purchase a large bag of tootsie pops and start that with the grandkids!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever had a Tootsie Pop. I'll look for them next time I'm at the store.
ReplyDeleteLd...I survived the change this time. Tomorrow I may hate it. I go on my starvation diet for two days again. I failed the cologaurd test so I am getting checked out for the second time.
ReplyDeleteYes we like tootsie pops too...I am with far guy, I love the chocolate ones! But wasn't aware of getting a free one or the indian shooting a star! sorry to hear that daylight savings time messes you up....hope you get over that soon. Everything has been melting so nicely here...now we are getting snow again. Shucks.
ReplyDeleteI remember the Tootsie pops but don't recall getting a free pop. I do recall being very lucky to win the prize though!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember even looking at the wrappers :-o. I don't think we had a free pop possiblity. I had the time change too. I hate waiting until the sun comes up to get up but really hate getting up in the dark.
