Three appointments down..three to go..and Friday is a day off!
Far Guy saw his Oncologist. A different maintenance medication will be tried, as the present one has a number of bad side effects...think thrown into the deep end of menopause. The cancer is all gone however the Doctor would recommend three weeks of radiation treatments. Due to Far Guy's fragile lungs and his heart function a specialist in Radiology must evaluate him.
We met with Great Grandson Hey Mikey's third grade teacher. A donation was made to that classroom in memory of Far Guy's sister Jan who taught third grade most of her teaching career. The donation will go for books, a field trip and water safety!
Jen removed the stitches from my forehead with only a little trouble because they were very tiny stitches...she consulted a You Tube Video at one point while I waited under her lit magnifying glass.
Sadie came home from Daycare to greet us and Andy made burgers on the grill...delicious!
The next morning Far Guy had all of his staples and stitches removed from his chest. He talked at length with his surgeon. Far Guy is his career #3 man with breast cancer. Regarding radiation the Surgeon said he would trust the opinion of the Radiology specialist and that risk vs reward is a tough call.
After that appointment we headed home.
I drove most of the way...Far Guy drove the last 60 miles so I could rest a bit.
Cloudy skies in our area. We had afternoon naps...in my case more of a sleep and for supper we warmed up some of the fabulous Pizza we made on Monday. Leftovers can be a blessing.
Minnesota weather: High of 56F or 13C Low was 50F or 10C eh!
Far Side
Curious about your pizza....is the crust homemade? I have a new recipe to try soon, with a different crust.
ReplyDeleteWe used a Pillsbury Pizza Crust and we baked it twice once before toppings and once after toppings.
DeleteIt sounds like it was a good day in many respects. I'll bet Sadie was happy to be home.
ReplyDeleteI bet it is nice to get those stiches and staples out!
ReplyDeleteSo thankful the cancer is all gone and praying for wisdom for doctors and radiologists. In my 30’s, I had to take medication that threw me in to “deep end of menopause” and it’s no fun! Your description made me smile though. RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteYea! You made it through those appointments! Mine are just starting this week. One today for the wall furnace, and tomorrow probably a long car appointment. My regular check up got moved two months out.
ReplyDeleteHaving no sign of the cancer is such good news, so hopefully they can find the right maintenance drugs with fewer side effects. I made pizza last night - same Pillsbury dough, with the double bake crust. We have leftovers for lunch today.
ReplyDeleteYou must keep good records on all these appointments to understand what's going on.
ReplyDeleteGlad those appointments are behind you, and that you are both home relaxing. I taught 3rd grade (and others as well). It is a blessing to have extra funding to support education. Schools and teachers are just not getting what they need.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear the cancer is gone. I hope the new medicine has very few side effects. Naps are a gift from Heaven... Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThings are sounding pretty good. I had leftovers for dinner last evening. They are a blessing.
ReplyDeleteGood updates. I see in your pictures you were almost home! What a nice memorial to sister, Jan. I am sure that classroom was very thankful!
ReplyDeleteGood Updates!! YAY
ReplyDeleteKeeping you and your family in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteWith all of the medical issues that you two have, I'm happy for you that things are looking brighter now.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear there is no cancer!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the oncologist trusts the radiologist. Be waiting to hear that opinion, for sure. I hope the new medication has less side effects.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to donate to the school in FarGuy's sister's name!
Keep resting when you need to--both of you. :) :)
Interesting. Every Cancer area is treated so differently. For good reason. Best wishes with FG medication & related decisions.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to honor your sister-in-law!
Y'all have some busy days and have accomplished a good bit. So very thankful that the cancer is gone!!! This blesses my heart. And...I love how you blessed the classroom with the donation. Hope you both can get some rest...AND...glad your staples are out..
ReplyDeleteGood to hear the appointments went well. Good job Nurse Jen.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the new med works for Far Guy.

ReplyDeleteFG and you are a team and such a good one.
ReplyDeleteI am sure it feels good to be home.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad the cancer is gone! thank you for making a donation in my mom’s name. I am always so touched when other people think of her. We miss her so much and just knowing other people do too makes us feel a little bit less alone. Praying that everyone is heading towards healthy.
ReplyDeletePraying that Doctors will have the right decision for you! My Son's Oncologist said diet was also very important. No sugar, milk products and not much in carbs! High vitamin C etc!
