First Frost

We had our first frost early Wednesday morning.  It is time to put some outside "stuff" away.

The old watering can, water hoses and car wash stuff that can freeze and other "stuff".

It will all happen little by little over the next few days.

We had Moons over my Hammy again last night for supper because we had the fixins  and they are easy.  Ham, cheese, egg on bread grilled to perfection.  Far Guy made a few fried potatoes and we also had peaches.

Minnesota weather: High 63 F or 18C Low was 25F or -3C.  It was a sunny day.

Not sure where the day went while I cleaned one bathroom, washed all the sheets from upstairs and caught up on laundry...mostly.  Oh yes I ordered some books for book club, groceries to pick up and some misc supplies that will be delivered.

I am feeling somewhat better, Far Guy is trying his hardest to get all better.  It was a Fall cold...started with a extremely sore think razor blades in your throat then hits your nose that runs like a faucet and then it settles in your chest with a nasty cough. Uffda.

  1. Still pretty warm here. FG cooking so he must be feeling somewhat better. Glad you're getting better too.

  2. I sure hope FG gets to feeling better. This has been a really tough year for the both of you.
We had our second frost here this morning so I can start cleaning out my gardens and doing the last mow of the yards today. Or, I may just let the pony do all the work and spread his manure for fertilizer!

  3. This is our second morning in a row where it was in the mid 40's when I woke up. It won't be long before I start wrapping up the hoses and getting the outside ready for the next season. You wouldn't tell it by looking at the trees, or the weather forecast for the next week.

  4. No frost here yet, but the past couple of days did get pretty cold in the mornings. We're at that time of year when we usually do get our first frost and sometimes first snow. Hope FG gets past that cold soon. I imagine his immune system is still trying to recover from the cancer and the surgery.

  5. There's always something to do with yards. I'd say that's a pretty good meal.

  6. We had a frost warning last night but I'm not sure if we actually go frost or not.. if we did it was a light one because my gardens still look pretty good.
I did bring the house plants I had out under the maple tree in - Frost or not it was too cold for them last night

  7. The nights have been quite cool here, and most of the garden/yard clean-up has been completed. But the rain barrels are going to stay out for a bit, as we're expecting rain this weekend...and if the forecast is correct, sn*w on Monday! I'm not ready for that. I hope it doesn't reach you any time soon.
Wishing the two of you a continued recovery.

  8. We're headed into 50s for highs. Time to winterize--yup!
I know all about the throat razor blades and coughing. Glad you are getting better and I hope FarGuy feels better soon, too.

  9. I am now dreaming of some Fall temps... I'm guessing that your Winter will be here SOON. Time to get ready for it...Many people in our area are battling the sore throat thing and runny nose. Mine ran it's course and I can finally sleep...still coughing some but at least it's not keeping me awake.

  10. I'm so glad you are both getting better.
We thought we were entering into a period of cold autumn rain, but so far only a drizzle. We need the rain.

  14. Ahhhh, that first freeze. Although I never wanted to let go of Autumn, when we were in Colorado, that first freeze and the insinuation that winter was coming also brought some renewed energy. Stay warm!

  15. I think you described that cold perfectly...sore throats especially, UGH. I'm envious of your cooler days...hopefully mine are coming soon. Blessings!

  16. Water to all outside taps has had to be turned off here. Hoses drained and other such preparations for wintery weather. We may not get the sort of winter the rest of Canada gets but there's still the chance of some real cold coming our way.
