News

 Well..it is not the news we hoped for.

Stage 4 adenocarcinoma in the left chest, with lymph node that is also cancerous.  We cannot attempt chemo because the hearts ejection fraction is 47% and it should be 50% or above. Plan b is hormone therapy taken as pills daily. The Dr will see him every two weeks and he will have blood work and pet scans from time to time. If the tumor responds and shrinks then he will have surgery. If it does not shrink we will have to revisit the plan a of chemotherapy…which may cause death.

We are sad and discouraged, it will take some time for everything to sink in. Thank you for all the prayers.

  5. I am so sorry for the disheartening news. I have prayed and prayed but I don't think I have much clout. It sounds like there are options though and your doctor seems to be vigilant. I think that rainbow is a good sign! Hugs to all of you.

  10. Oh no! Goodness! How do they determine the hearts ejection fraction? Never heard of that before. I have to ask if they suggested immunotherapy at all? Thoughts and prayers sounds so meager in my ears, but you will be there, regardless. *love and hugs*

    1. He had a Mughal test which is a stress electrocardiogram that measures your heart health. Right now hormone therapy is our only option.

  13. My heart goes out to you both. I know the heartbreak of losing family members to cancer. The only grace is that it gives time to accept the inevitable and to cherish each moment together. May God's peace enfold you both.

  15. Oh Connie, I'm so so sorry to hear this. My prayers will continue. Please, I beg you....please get another opinion. Or two. Or three. My Daddy (RIP...1987) had 6 blocked arteries in his chest. The doctor said it was impossible to do surgery because his heart was too weak. He said to my Mom "What am I supposed to do now? Go home & wait to die?!" After being home a couple weeks, my brothers & I decided that we had to get another opinion. So we took Dad's tests & marched into another cardiovascular surgeon's office. He looked at Dad's test results & such. He agreed wholeheartedly that Dad's heart function was bad & that he may not make it if open-heart surgery was attempted...but that it was possible, albeit very "iffy". Dad looked at the surgeon in the eyes and said "If I was your Dad, what would you do, Doctor?" The doctor said "I was raise my eyes up to heaven, ask for God's help, and I would do surgery on him." Dad said that was good enough for him. Dad had successful surgery & lived for years afterward. So don't give up, Connie. One doctor's opinion is not the end all, be all. I'll be praying. ~Andrea xoxo

    Trust in the Lord with all your heart
        and lean not on your own understanding;
