Twin Fawns in August

The fawns still have their spots.  We found the twins munching along the edge of the woods trying to escape the skeeters.

They stood like bookends.  Mama was back in the woods watching.

Pretty little tick carriers.  I guess you could say my deer hunting is done for the year.  Photo opportunities of fawns with spots doesn’t happen very often.

I took these photos close to sunset on Tuesday night.  It was cloudy and rainy on Wednesday.  A catch up day for me…laundry, cleaning the bathroom and painting Christmas Ornaments.  The ornament count is still at  five completed…but we have parts all over my desk.  When those start coming together the count will go up dramatically.  Chance spent most of the afternoon hiding from the thunder…he has to be bribed to go outside.  We have enough rain, if this was winter we would have lots of snow…I hope the weather pattern changes before winter.

  1. They sure are cute. You are lucky to see them. Wish you could send us some of your rain. All we get is the humidity. It is really dry around here.

  3. Tess is like Chance- she won't even go out to pee when there is thunder within 10 miles. I promise to protect her but she doesn't believe me.....
Great shots of the fawns! I saw one yesterday as I went into town, a lady I know was making sure it got safely across the busy road that runs through town; its mama got killed on that road in early summer and this lady is making sure the fawn has food (her garden!) and water and does her best to make sure it crosses the road safely whenever she sees it out there.

  6. Great shots of the twins!
Still more rain expected over here, too. Dark. Air so thick you have to swim through it. ;)

  8. I am going to go walk Barney right now as he refuses to go out on his own when it is cloudy. Had thunder in the middle of the night and he remembers that. It is good to get the ornaments moving along. I took on a new project that is going to destroy my body but I will get it done. Hot, humid, rain, and I do see some sunshine now. We have such diverse weather. We are seeing more deer hit on the highways again. It goes in cycles.

  9. Good capture of the fawns, we rarely see them here, although there are lots of deer around.
We have had a good summer, a few dull damp days, but sunshine too and not too hot. Mostly how I like it!

  10. At this are the fawns will soon lose their spots. The winter coat takes care of the spots.

  11. Our babies have been around off and on for about 3 weeks now. They don't come down with Mom's till late July. They are so cute to watch and we have our first triplets in probably 5 years again.

  12. They must have been an afterthought. It seems awfully late to have fawns with spots. Ours look like grownups. Or teenagers at least. :-)
