Clematis virginiana or Virgin's Bower started off as a tiny sprig planted in about 1999 a gift from Faye.
It is doing quite well this year. some of it climbs up and some of it just spreads along the ground seeking a spot to climb.
It has a sweet smell that permeates our yard.We were finally able to continue our Sunday afternoon date out on the patio at our favorite place to eat. It was quite warm out on the patio about 95F ( according to our car) but we were in the shade and there was a nice breeze. We have not had a date in three weeks. I am thankful that Far Guy felt good enough to go out....there was no one else out on the patio everyone else opted for the AC inside.
Far Guy is getting a bit stronger everyday.
Minnesota weather: High 90F or 32C Low 70F or 21C We are still under an extreme heat advisory.
Far Side
good news indeed!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you both felt good enough to enjoy an outdoor date. Very pretty clematis, and thriving!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to read Far Guy is getting stronger & that you guys are enjoying date night!!
ReplyDeleteWish I had a sturdy place for the sweet smelling clematis. They get so big.
That is very good news. Brave of you to sit out in the heat.
ReplyDeleteWee dates are so good for the heart, mind and soul!
ReplyDeleteWe are baking in E.Ontario too. Now we have wildfire smoke from N.Quebec drifting down on us as well. I water everything very early in the morning at ground level then retreat indoors. Good that you have a shaded breezy spot to be outdoors. Our side deck gets full shade and a breeze off the meadow about 3PM
ReplyDeleteThe sprig of clematis liked its new home to grow into this enormous plant. The flowers are pretty too.
ReplyDeleteA day of no cooking. What a treat. I appreciate all those days. FG getting stronger is good news!
I love Clematis and there's so many colors and varieties!
ReplyDeleteGlad that you got to get out and enjoy yourself but I'm not going out this week because it's pretty much going to be 100 plus! Hate the heat!
I Googled the clematis to see that it is a native. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you that you could go out on a date, finally.
Great news and your photos are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to add that I can't take the intense heat 😫 and humidity.
