One down

One more to go.  I got my High Dose Flu shot on Friday morning.  On Monday I will get the Covid booster and then both are crossed off my list for another year!

My Rheumatologist wants me to try a different medication for my RA and I cannot have any vaccinations while on the medication...so I will get my vaccinations and then wait two weeks and try the new med.  I am so not impressed with my Rheumatologist...he said "Oh your blood work is showing so much inflammation"...yes...go figure...I could have told him that.  He has no explanation why my Ferritin level is still high....nor does he care.  He also said "You have tried so many RA meds and failed them all"  no news to me...as if that statement helps at all.

I will just keep on keeping on and hope that sooner or later the Clinic in Grand Forks will recruit a Rheumatologist.   My Primary Care Dr says they are trying their best in recruitment.

I hope that both vaccinations will be smooth going with no major couch time. I could have gotten them both at once...but did not want to press my luck.

Supper was roast pork, mashed potatoes, gravy and baked carrots.  Comfort food.
Minnesota weather: It was frosty!

  1. It sounds as though your unsympathetic rheumatologist is blaming you for the meds not helping. Georgina

  2. Maybe find one that would do an online consultation! If you are too far away from a large city, it could help to discuss your labs with someone new!

  3. Yes, I have to schedule my shots too. Thanks for the reminder. My doctor's appts got pushed out for 3 months. I usually see her in September but she had to pick up another doc's patients so I got pushed to December.
    I guess I best call!

  5. There seems to be no answer for arthritic pain. Most of the helps hurt other parts of our bodies. It’s so depressing and painful. I’m with you in your frustration!

  6. Well, you really needed that comfort food.
I hope the vaccinations go well.
    But what a careless doctor!
    Best wishes and strength.

  8. It makes everything more difficult when we don't click with our doctors. Hope you find a better match for you!

  9. Okay, How frosty was your weather? Some health issues end up being a bit of a guessing game. I hope one of these wild guesses works.

  11. Got our flu shots a couple of weeks ago. I know how difficult it is when you have a Rheumatologist that you don't really see eye to eye with. Mine is highly recommended, but I always dread going to see him. One reason is because ...even if you have the first appointment of the morning, he is going to be at least 45 min late. Another reason is that he orders all these blood test and it takes him about 3 or 4 weeks to even get back with you on the results. Guess I'll stop with my rant ... lol. Hope y'all have a great weekend.

  12. My daughter was recently diagnosed with RA and she was put on a new med that seems to be working better. Hopefully they will find something that works for you.

  13. I did the shots together last year and had no side effects. Did them together again this year and had a low fever and aches for about 12 hours. I'm glad to have them done too. I sure hope you find better rheumatologist soon.

  15. I sure hope you can get a new doctor that at least seems interested in investigating new ways to help you or the current doctor ups his game.
It's dismal and pretty cool here today and all we've done is eat for the past few days. Lots of social "stuff" that always includes food. And I have no willpower.
I still need to get the flu shot and my pneumonia shot too. I keep putting it off because it always knocks me back for a day or two.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  17. When it comes to medical stuff, you are complicated. That's not fun. I know.
