There is an angel in the living room, I walk by her a number of times a day. I am supposed to walk a lot, who really knows how much. I walk, I rest..repeat as needed until I am tired and it is nap time. I do know what it feels like to overdo. Yesterday was my fourth day with no pain meds. I take six extra strength Tylenol daily. Two Tylenol every eight hours and one muscle relaxing pill every eight hours and boy I count down the last few hours. Tylenol is all I can take because of my blood pressure. Most of my pain is from the incision down my spine. My brain is returning from the mushy drug induced state it has been in for the past two weeks. I have some residual nerve pain/numbness across my buttock and down my left leg and over to my toes…it has improved a little and I hope with time it will improve more…if I overdo it let’s me know.
Today I am two weeks post surgery. Yeah me! Far Guy and Jen are taking good care of me. It is hard to remember not to pick up anything from the floor and I try to be very conscious to keep my hips aligned with my shoulders at all times, I am not supposed to lift anything above my head either. I sit in the shower to wash my now much shorter hair…Jen cut and thinned my hair so it is easier to care for.
Far Guy is a trooper, helpful at all times! Presently he is waiting for insurance approval for all his cancer fighting medications. He has two personal navigators at the Cancer Center that are working on his behalf.
Far Side
angels anywhere are always welcome...prayers continue for you both...
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't take much pain to become all consuming. Both of you are still in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture. Sounds like you are doing well, and will continue to pray.
ReplyDeleteI love the angel. Made me think of angel unaware. Lots of angels are surrounding you with good care. Some of these angels you are unaware of but they are out there—even your commenters❤️
ReplyDeleteDid Jen create the angel was my other wonder?
Keep moving all you can!
Yes Jen made the angel!
DeleteI'm glad you are being cared for so well. Hopefully the negotiations regarding insurance and medications do work and things can move forward for FG.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like your recovery is going slow but steady, Connie. That's the name of the game. So is not overdoing it. YES, our bodies let us know when we've done too much & then we seem to be set back a day or two. I'm continuing to pray for both you and Far Guy. A person needs the patience of Job to deal with insurance companies! I love that angel. It looks like a mosaic of some sort? It's beautiful. Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteYes it is made of strips of fabric!
DeleteThese are trying times indeed. I am glad you are walking and taking care of yourself. Thanks for the lovely hopeful comment you left on my blog. Prayers continuing for you and FG.
ReplyDeleteI am super proud of you being such a good patient and following all the post-op instructions! No hands overhead is something we do often and would be difficult to not do. Very proud of you, too, for just taking Tylenol. It is nice to have a clearer brain. Praying for all your pain to leave and the meds for FG to be approved quickly. That is definitely an area where insurance needs to quicken their pace.
ReplyDeleteI pray that your guardian angels keep a close watch on you! It's hard to not do all those things you are used to doing, but be mindful so as to speed your healing. Prayers that your husband gets the medical help he needs.
ReplyDeletePain is the worst! I am so sorry you and Gene are going through all this. I've been thinking of getting a different hairstyle as I need something easier too. I'm so glad you have your family to take such great care of you both.
ReplyDeleteThat angel is beautiful. You keep up that walking and being careful about lifting - and you'll be healed before you know it.
ReplyDeleteIts amazing how much we rely on our back for little things you do everyday. May you get a little more improvement each day
ReplyDeleteTaking it easy is often the best thing we can do. It is not easy to remember that. I feel like I am taking care of my body like it is an entity separate from the real me.
ReplyDeleteYou have three “angels” watching over you! I’m glad you’re getting around and that you know your limits: your recovery will depend on both. Hurray for the individuals that are assisting FG with the insurance obstacles. Prayers for both you and FG: I think of you both often.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are right on track in recovery and taking care of yourself as you should. I’m glad you have your three angels watching over you. It sounds painful though. Far guy is a great partner. I’m glad he has the help he needs in getting treatment soon. Prayers continue.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and love,
Betsy
Jen's angel is lovely. She is talented. She and FG are also good caregivers, you are all so blessed to have one another.
ReplyDeleteI come to visit you every morning. I send you and Gene prayers many, many times through out the day. My love to you...and Hope. Hope is always good.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are getting better.
