Uffda

My eye did not improve...but it did not get worse.  It still felt like something was in there. A trip to the Eye Doctor revealed that the Medical Doctor ( who I said was incompetent) left debris in my eye.   The Eye Doctor removed the chunk of stuff that she called a rock.  I have to do special eye drops for a week now.

Maybe now my eye can finally get better. One can hope.

It has been raining here.  Not much else is new.

June

June melted away in the rain on Saturday night or early Sunday.

My scoop shovel and rake are there waiting to clean up the last of June's debris.

The grass is starting to turn green.

In the distance you can see the area I mowed on Friday.

My eye is less irritated...more anesthetic and antibiotic ointment and I put the patch back on...another afternoon on the couch and it seems much better!

Dirty Job

Friday I mowed a spot in the wild gardens, it was supposed to rain...and it did rain on Saturday. When I was done I was covered in dirt...even Far Guy said you need a bath!  FYI I was wearing my safety glasses...I do not mow or trim without them.  However I was so dirty that some dirt on my face or in my hair got into my eye after I took my safety glasses off.  AND then I rubbed my eye.

I was on the couch much of yesterday...sinking my patched eye into a pillow with a finger pressed onto the eye patch keeping the eye closed and the eyelid from fluttering around.   I watched the Coronation and lots of cooking shows and had many naps.

I should be right as rain in a couple of days...and all rested up.

Eye

Corneal abrasion...and I sought medical treatment.  Anesthetic drops, ointment and an eye patch.  Lots of naps are in my future for the next 48 hours.

May Stuff

We had Virtual Book Club yesterday.  I gave the book a SAD 6.  One of the other gals rated it the same and others rated it higher.   I thought it was a very sad book and if you are into sad then read it.

A woman is no man by Etaf Rum

I have been working on a crochet project in the evenings and early mornings.  If I get up early I watch a movie.  This week I watched Whitney Houston: I wanna dance with somebody (Who knew drugs could be hidden in pens?) I give it a 5, A Cowgirls Song (Cheryl Ladd can sing) I give it a 7, Father Stu (Inspiring) I give it an 8 it is a true story, Pitch Perfect (some girls are so mean...I loved Fat Amy) I give it a 8,The Mustang (Wild Horses can be tamed but some should just go free) I give it a 8.  As you can tell I have weird taste in movies.

So I completed seven bags to add to my stash and I am preparing another six or so to finish off that project and then put the yarn away!

Yesterday Far Guy had his infusion and I ran a whole bunch of errands and worked in the yard in the late afternoon.

Warming up

They said on the local news/weather that yesterday May 3 was the warmest day since November 1st 2022.  We may have been close to 70 F or 22 C eh!

We went for a Ranger Blue ride to see where they were cutting down trees...the trees West and a bit North of us are getting another trim.

The Marsh Marigolds/Cowslips are up but not blooming yet.

We had a nice ride.   The skeeters are huge and they are thirsty as I discovered when I sat outside enjoying the warm weather and the extended daylight.

There is still snow in the woods.

I picked up twigs in the yard and raked a bit.  June is shrinking.

More smiles and June

Maddie sent photos of our Great Grands with their May Baskets!

Auntie Jen must have delivered them as I left them at her place when I had my dental work done.

BTW my stitches finally dissolved and are no longer driving me partially nuts!

June is still hanging around.

May Baskets!

I have been celebrating May Day with May Baskets for many years...since 1952...it is so easy you make a basket and put some candy inside it and deliver it to friends and family!

This years baskets were pretty pink pigs:) Filled with chocolate candy and some had Tootsie Pops.

I made 25 baskets.

My Mom with her May basket.  I left her a couple of baskets to share with who ever she would like.

She had a lengthy day at the Clinic and is doing okay...she has swelling in her legs and needs to keep walking and putting her feet up and wearing her compression socks.  She has been struggling with swollen legs for many months.  I try to attend her Doctors appointments when possible.

Quiet Sunday

We had a quiet windy cool day on Sunday.

Far Guy has several projects happening and I worked on some cards and my crochet projects.  I also did some laundry and straightened up my desk.

Happy May Day!  I will have a May Basket report for you tomorrow.

Ice and Cooking

The lakes still have ice.  It will be a late Ice Out this year unless we get really warm.

This is the West side of Shell Lake.  We went to Detroit Lakes on Friday because the Highway will be under construction all summer. Yes All Summer....I feel sorry for anyone living along the road.

Saturday Far Guy and I made Jambalya...it took us half the day...the other half we went to play cards with Steve and Jo and afterwards we came home for our naps.

Jambalya and flat bread was supper.  Want the recipe for Jambalya?  He follows the Jambalya video for The Cajun Ninja.  I am just the Sous Chef and part time stirring assistant.  It freezes well and will be enjoyed on nights no one wants to cook.

Got your May Baskets ready?

Barn

We have watched this barn for years.

The winter was too much for it.

Too old, too much snow...and it just gave out.

As you can see nothing is green yet...no leaves, no grass.

Better

I am feeling better...for an old gal.  My non tooth area/cavern/hole in my head has finally calmed down.  No more pain or throbbing.  Yeah me...

Yesterday I helped Far Guy with his car...scrubbing now that is in my wheelhouse.  He wanted the vinyl on the floor scrubbed before he puts those newly covered seats back in his car.   I must have done okay....then I had a nap.

letter

I sent Hey Mikey a letter...and he liked it!

Hey Mikey. I heard you were losing your teeth!  Are you pulling them out yourself?

I hope you are being good on the bus and listening to your Mom.

I am still a little crabby because I am old.

Great Grandpa says Hi and thanks for the letter.

Buy some ice cream and share with your sister.

Love you!  Crabby Great Grandma H.

Maddie messaged me to say he loved his letter and he would share with his sister " but only a little bit."

Blanket

Here is the little blanket I made for our newest Great Grand due in late June.

This is Bernat yarn that is so soft, cuddly and warm.   I finished it pretty quickly and have one less project!  I still have five crochet projects happening at once.  ( scrubbies, a lace shawl, another shawl, Winter Wonderland and crochet bags)

I was not feeling well enough to go to Far Guy's Doctor appointment yesterday.  I stayed home and slept the entire time he was gone.  He is a big guy and can go to appointments with out me!

I am chilled and exhausted and hope I feel better soon.  Far Guy is making eggs for supper...soft foods for me, not much chewing or opening my mouth is a good thing.

FYI I made it through the pain with Ibuprofen...not much fun at all. They never did call in the prescription for the pain med that they said they would....the bums.

Tooth and Dogs

One of these days I should count my teeth.  I kinda like Nitrous Oxide, it takes the edge off.

Yes I had a messy tooth...it had an abscess that they cleaned up, packed it with something that will dissolve and put in a couple of stitches.  Uffda...

I cannot say that they were a real organized Oral Surgery Office.  My prescription never got to the Pharmacy...and when Far Guy called back to the Surgery center they only sent one prescription in.  We finally left town without the pain reliever. Far Guy was disgusted...we waited in the parking lot of the Pharmacy just about an hour.   I was so ready to just get the prescription and head home...

Little Elvis enjoyed our stay and he had a sleep over in our room.

Miss Sadie was so happy to see us especially Far Guy.

The kids painted the living room and Jen got new curtains...and the popcorn ceiling is history.

It is a much brighter room!

Ouch

I have a Dental Procedure on Monday....not looking forward to it other than putting it behind me.  I have been fighting a tooth abscess since last Fall ...I have had a root canal, many rounds of antibiotics...the last time the Dentist drilled into the crown and put medication down in the tooth...then more antibiotics...so it is time.

We will get to see Little Elvis and Sadie so that will make me feel better.

We have appointments nearly everyday this week.

Thank goodness I cooked last week and the freezer has many meals...because I may not feel like cooking.

Snow in the trees a few days ago.

Still not Springy

We went to recycle and to the local grocery store.

The fields are filled with snow again and snow was drifting across the road.  The sky had some blue spots.

Seems like all I have done this last week is cook!  I made some lasagna yesterday...I like it once and Far Guy will warm up the extra frozen servings.

I finished the baby blanket I was working on...haven't taken a photo yet.

More sNOw

It snowed off and on...maybe some fell out of the trees.

I made soup, did some laundry and had a nap.

No chance that I would be sitting out on the patio.

June got a new layer.

It snowed about seven inches give or take.   It was enough.  FYI this is day 165 for our snow.

Snow

The snow was almost gone...just snow drifts remaining.

I could almost imagine some green grass.

THEN

and still more

Who knows when it will end.

I am trying to make the best of the situation and will make some vegetable soup today...and have a nap.

Swans

The  Trumpeter Swans are finding food and puddles in the fields.

There is still snow in the shade and in the trees.  More snow is forecast for today.
It might warm up next week.
