30

How can it be???  Our oldest Grand is 30 years old today.  Hardly seems possible.

Savannah and me in 1996 the day she came home from the hospital.

Savannah and Far Guy in 1998

A couple of photos with Chance.  He loved Savannah she was a great water/ball thrower!

Savannah was throwing water in the air for Chance...this is most likely Namaken Lake or Lake Kabetogama in Voyageurs National Park in way Northern  Minnesota in 2008.

One of my favorite photos of Savannah on her birthday when she was 20 years old!

Happy Birthday Savannah...Grandpa and I love you now and forever!

The Grands

Getting all the young adults together is hard, last Sunday worked for most of us to gather.  Adam drove from Western North Dakota...Adam's fiancee Courtney had to work or she would have been here too.

Here they are oldest to youngest!  They brighten up our lives!  We played games and had a White Elephant gift exchange....and an incredible meal that Andy cooked.  Prime rib, twice baked potatoes, carrots, parsnips, popovers and snickers salad and then all kind of Christmas goodies.

It was so quiet in the house after everyone left.

Greats and a Grand

Granddaughter Maddie and her husband Brenton visited us on Wednesday night, we had pizza as all the kids love pizza! Pizza and pickles a perfect meal for the kiddos!

Little kids

We spent some time with the Greats and three of the Grands yesterday. All are doing well.

The little Greats stayed when their parents went to a wedding.  They really liven up the place!

The Greats watching tv with their favorite Uncle Andy. Sadie is supervising.

This little munchkin Baby K was watching me instead of tv…and I received a number of smiles.  Peach reminds me often that it is her baby and not mine.

Far Guy had a fair day, he still has some pain and has to watch it so he doesn’t use his left arm very much.

Andy made supper for us and the Greats …hamburgers on the grill and French fries…perfect food for the kids and the elderly!

The weather was beautiful with the high around 70 F.

I love you

The Grands each wrote I love you on a piece of paper and Jen laser cut the words out.  Each one a bit different!

There was some discussion about the style of Noahs hair making him taller this year than his brother!

These five light up our lives!  It was fun to spend some time with them, play some games and hear them laugh together and tell stories about each other.

We love them too!

Sorting

Friday was a quiet day, I did some laundry and sorted my way through a project.  Far Guy warmed up meals out of the freezer for supper...he had a Impossible Sausage dish and I had Hotdish..the one with potatoes, veggies and hamburger topped with cheese.

It has been a while since I sorted for our Grands...I have three ring binders for each of them filled with "stuff" they might appreciate someday.  My Mother kept a few things that I did not keep.  I have been shoving things for the Grands in a container and it just needed to be sorted and put in its proper place.   Far Guy helped and in no time at all we were done!

What is inside?  Birth announcements, coloring pages works of art, school programs, sports rosters, baptism and birthday party announcements, confirmation and graduation announcements, family trees, family history, obituaries of their Great Grandparents.

I also have photo albums for them all...it is a project I started Up North...I have sorted some more photos to add to that project sometime this Winter.

Do you keep similar things for a bit of family history and hope it is appreciated someday or do you just shred it all?

Our grandsons

The wedding was a good time to spend some time with our grandsons Noah and Adam...and of course their parents Jen and Andy.  Jen and Andy rented a large enough place for all of us to be comfortable.  Far Guy and I just stayed one night.

Our oldest Grandson Noah, he took a vacation day from his job at Simplot in Grand Forks ND to come to the wedding.

Our youngest grandson and the baby of the entire family...Adam.

Adam has a gal named Courtney, we like her too!  They both live in Western ND where Courtney is attending school and Adam is working at Menards and planning to go back to school Winter semester.

 A wonderful group photo!

Time always goes too fast when you are around the people you love most in the world.  We get to see Noah quite often...Adam not so much since he moved.

Competition

At the Wedding Shower the other day, there were guessing games, word finds and make a wedding dress out of toilet paper.

The toilet paper competition is an old one as I recall it at wedding showers years ago.  The gal in charge of the game said the TP came from the dollar store so it was two ply.

There were a number of young gals in the competition. Paige was the Judge....her sister Savannah did not win.  Even though her group was highly organized.  The dress had flowers and a train and everything!

Savannah dressed in TP

Savannah will be the last of her sisters to get engaged and married ...unless she hurries along.  Soon she turns 28 years old...she says when it happens it happens.

Paige: Wedding Shower

Yesterday I attended the wedding shower for Paige, our youngest granddaughter and #3 Grand.

The wedding is later this year.  All her Aunts on her Father's side of the family planned the shower.  There was a bit of champagne, fruit, cheese, small fancy sandwiches and cupcakes.

Sisters; Savannah #1  Grand and Maddie #2 Grand will both be Maid/Matron of Honor at the wedding and I think about six other bridesmaids.

Paige got many really nice gifts.  It was a fun afternoon.  Jen stopped by for a quick visit before and after the wedding shower and we rode into town together.

Easter gathering

We gathered at Jen and Andy's for Easter.   The food was marvelous!  We enjoyed way too much food and a rousing game of Bingo.  The Great Grands hunted for their Easter Baskets and had an egg hunt.

We missed Miss Paige she had to be elsewhere, it is always fun to see these "kids" together.

Grands

It was a day to celebrate Christmas with our Grandchildren or like I call them the "Grands."

We had lots of food; egg bake, little smokies wrapped in bacon, fruit and cinnamon rolls...and a plate full of Christmas goodies.  I even had a mimosa!  We gathered late in the morning to do brunch.

We played games for prizes, had a white elephant gift exchange and opened stockings.

Fun times!  Wonderful to see them all together.

Here they are tallest to shortest from left to right.  From right to left is their birth order.  They are a Grand group of young adults!

Hey Mikey

Cee Cee after running around , falling down and getting a dirty face!

The scratch on her cheek is from a kitty cat...I think she grabbed the cats tail.

We missed Adam (he had a stomach ache) and Miss Paige who is away at school.

The last teenager

Our last teenager turns twenty today...all our Grands are in their twenties now.  I gave him a couple of early hugs for his birthday!  He wasn't so sure about turning twenty.  He is our Grand that always makes me smile.  I was so fortunate to be there when he was born...those are special moments a Gramma never forgets.

This was the photo I chose for his birthday card.  I took this photo in 2011 when he was ten years old!  He has grown some since then and is now the tallest person in our family.

He attends a Community College with an undecided major.  He has a gal...but we have not met her yet...maybe someday.

He has planned a dinner out with his brother and his parents for his birthday.

Happy Birthday Adam!  You are one of my favorite young gentlemen!

Love you!  Gramma

Windy Day

The wind howled through the trees most of the day, there were even some leaves in the air from the Oaks that retain their leaves all winter.  I have a bunch of sticks to pick up.

The lawn has a hint of green.   My other baby brother and she who sees robins first stopped by to visit out on the patio.

Far Guy had some projects out in the woodshop/greenhouse.  He is working on an old wooden toolbox that his Dad built years ago...it will become a toolbox for his new old car.  We found a Restoration Shop that will take the car in the Fall and fix some rust spots and paint it....they will keep it a number of months.

It took me nearly all day to clean the bathroom, do a couple of loads of laundry and cook supper...I am still tired....or maybe just old.

Far Guy just talked to Grand Miss Paige she was quite sick after her first vaccination, she is feeling better now but says she felt like she was hit by a truck.  Grand Noah had his first vaccination and has no side effects.

Grand Day

Jen took a photo of the Grands lined up.

Left to right oldest to youngest.

Left to right tallest to shortest.

They are Adam = in school and working, Noah = working, Paige = working and waiting to get into a school program, Maddie = working and  Savannah = in school and working.

We are thankful they all have jobs and homes/apartments and are healthy!

There was a bit of a tallness challenge between Paige and Maddie...Maddie was disappointed that she lost.

Sometimes I still see them as small children.

We are blessed to have them in our lives!
